Tonight the HICAS light came on. I topped the car's power steering like the owners manual said, but no help... got it again. What is needed to fix this? if it's something extensive, can i just disable the HICAS? will the HICAS mess up my tires if it doesn't get fixed?

Depending on what the issue is the HICAS can get pretty expensive to fix in a hurry. There is a disable kit for the HICAS.

why woudl you disable HICAS without doing the self diagnosis..

oooh that's awesome. i'll have to do that this week sometime. My manual only says "top off power steering fluid and if this doesn't work, go to your dealer"

The manual tells you that for the taillights, too. Yet they show a cutaway of the AC compressor. Beats me.
