it depends. there is either HICAS which is hydraulic, or SUPERHICAS which is electronic.

the OPTIMAL way to remove it, is to replace the entire rear subframe with one from a non-HICAS equipped car.

But the eliminator bar works as well.

YOu can run whatever steering wheel you want. doesnt matter. the only thing you are going to lose by going with an aftermarket steering wheel are either, cruise control, air bag, horn, or radio controls (when applicable)

Why would you have to replace the steering wheel, just give me the logic on that, I need a chuckle.

Remove the fuse, put it the hicas eliminator kit, and go. The steering wheel would have absolutely nothing to do with the Hicas...

AND SEARCH... This has been covered more than enough times to know exactly what to do if you search "hicas elimination" alot of information comes up.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO REPLACE THE STEERING WHEEL! Who ever told you that, doesn't know anything about 240SX and you should never listen to their advice again.

Also I agree the best way to get rid of HICAS system is swapping the the entire rear sub-frame with one from a non-HICAS 240sx. It's not as hard as it sounds.

Removing the fuse will disable the HICAS system, however the HICAS adjusts your toe angle, so it could slip out of alignment every so often.

Using the cheap locking bars you find on ebay and what not will lock it in place and keep the hicas system from moving. However you will not be able to adjust your toe correctly.

There are Hicas locking systems that cost a lot more, say $1300 is usually what I see, and they do allow you to adjust the toe angle for realignment or custom alignment, however for the cost it's not worth it.

If your HICAS is driven by the PS pump you will see two lines. You can use the same pump and block the HICAS like the RB20 guys do by opening the back of the pump and removing the metal plates inside that form a star shape. Followed by Welding up the rear banjo bolt. Or you can replace it with a NON HICAS pump. Then your Sub-frame you can remove the HICAS rack and place a HICAS elimination bar on it. OR replace the whole Sub-frame. As far as the steering wheel I have never heard of that at all. I had a Hicas hatch and first thing was a MOMO steering wheel.

Lighter steering wheel?..I eliminated my HICAS and replaced my steering wheel. Make sure you get the correct hub adaptor- its the same as the HICAS Z32 steering adaptor IIRC. Otherwise, you will not have a working horn- I hate not having a working horn.

I don't see how anyone could read this crap. Both of your posts are illegible. These aren't even wrote at the 3rd grade level. You could at least attempt to use a little punctuation if you can't spell. I am surprised anyone even attempted to help you.

No offense, but if you are going to school someone on their grammar and typing skills, then use proper grammar and punctuation yourself. The proper word to use there would have been "written".

if you dont have a lift and airtools replacing a subframe isn't exactly "not as hard as it sounds". if you can get access to a garage and do swap out the subframe i'd suggest replacing your driveshaft, hubs and calipers to non abs and remove the abs pump. will make life easier down the road
