so both my high preasure and return power steering hard lines that goes from the front of my car to the back P/S distibutors are pretty badly rotted/rusted....its hard as hell trying to find new parts as theyre very rare...so my mechanic came up with the following:

1) sever the hard lines at both ends and remove them completely2) weld them shut on both sides3) throw one a HICAS cancellation kit if not immediatly then as soon as readily available

now my only issue with this is that there wouldnt be any PS fluid returning to the pump since the crcle has been cut right?

i guess my question is as follows...by cutting those lines there wouldnt b a complete circle/cycle so would the front PS still work...i mean the resevoir wouldnt b gettin any return fluid

wut do yall think?

Simple solution, get rid of the power steering completely! Remove the pump and connect both lines to the bottom of a fluid reservoir and keep it full of power steering fluid. Or go one further and disassemble the rack and cut the ring that seperates the 2 sides of the rack, reassemble and run one line to a reservoir and fill with power steering fluid.

Benefits: less weight, more space, less parasitic draw on the engine, and better more consistant feel when driving

down side: its alittle harder to steer in a parking lot (but really only alittle), and you have to do alittle work.

BUT this is just my personal opinion. As far as your question goes, i dont really know, sorry i am not more help.

I believe it's the fuse labeled "electronics" in the driver's side fuse box. You'll know if it's the right one when the hicas light is lit.

Another solution, for those keen on fixing instead, is to take the lines and their connectors to a local hydralic shop and have them swage the connectors onto some new hose.

I know this is late but you can cap the rear hicas line and unplug it and just run the front and it will work fine.

Or you could get a Power Steering rack from an S13 without HICAS. And you can even go as far as getting the Power Steering lines and reservoir as well.
