ok so the fuel baffel broke lose in the tank on my car and im trying to replace it with the tank from my parts car. mine is a 91 hatch and my parts car is a 91 hatch hicas. but the filler neck just dosent want to line up. i tried swaping the necks out and still nothing anybody know anything about this. thought all s13s had the same tank?

i had the tanks side by side and they looked to be the same, i cant say i was looking for diffrences. and the parts car was hit really hard in the right rear. i dont think that would make a diffrence tho.

it should be alot easier to find that tank in a junk yard than the hicus. although i do know that alot of junk yards will puncture the tanks to drain them when processing them i know where 2 or 3 good 1's here are though, or pretty sure there good. thanks for the info that the hicus tanks are different though cause my 240 is hicus and i will chalk that to another difference between it and the reg, and i another part if i needed to replace would be a pain.

how did you get the tank to drop completely, I'm leaking gas from where the filler neck meets the tank (I'm guessing worn o-ring)?

I undid the straps and fuel pump harness but the tank would only drop like 2-3 inches. Thanks!

there is a bolt that holds the filler neck to the car its self its all the way at the top. take right rear wheel off and remove the plastic guard youll see it. and make sure before you drop it all the way check to see you have disconeted all the lines. there are 3 lines ones the sending line one is the return and one is the vapor .line DONT get them mixed up do those things and you should be good to go:1 also more than likely your filler neck is rusted out on the bottom or you have a split line some where. mine had a split in the overflow return line from the filler nick. hope i helped

that bolt must be it, do I have to remove the fuel lines just to drop the tank? I don't want to completely remove it from the car, just enough to get to all the bolts that hold the filler neck to the tank.

In my adventure of trying to drop it last week I was able to pull back the fuel tank protective plastic piece and was able to see the stains where the fuel was leaking out of one side of that connection. I was able to reach 2 of the bolt and tightened them a little, which has helped most of all the leaking fuel but I still smell gas and there doesn't seem to be pressure in the tank when I open it.

sorry for the off-topic and thanks for your experience!

you dont half to. just make sure you have the tank well proped up by something. and while your at it and have the tank lowerd i would check the filler neck for holes. and check all the lines coming from the tank and fuel pump for splits or cracks. also check the rubber overflow line for splits and cracks. if you give me some time later to night ill postup some pics in this thread so you can see every thing.

awesome, I would greatly appreciate it. I probably won't be doing it for a couple days anyways, I gotta burn all the gas out of the tank again.
