PeterofDevon returns as PeterofPaoli.

The cars remain the same the milages are higher. Well, not so much for the Queen, she goes less than 1000 miles per year. Her last trip was Phila to Montreal, she had a blast and learned how to speak French. The 94 is still somewhat happy, he is the daily driver who grunts around town wishing he had the garage, the black on black, tinted windows, wood dash, lower milage, no oil leak and a quiet exhust like the Queen. He did get new tires this week and he wants to report that the Exaltos lasted 5 years and 60K before hitting the metal bands!!! Yippie. Unfortunately his ehaust is sounding very urban... should he go to midas or get the real deal?

Peter

:welcome: back Peter!

On the exhaust question - it would be good to know exactly what's leaking. It's pretty rare to see holes in the actual exhaust system. But if someone has unbolted it and didn't seal it up right...

Sure its the exhaust (stainless steel) or the resonator?

I had the latter welded on car to seal small perforation years ago.

I am pretty sure the exhaust on the Q isn't stainless.. There might be SOME stainless (where I dont know), but Q exhaust rot out all the time.

Welcome back Peter.. Honestly if you don't care how the exhaust looks (IE under the car all the time) save the money and just get it patched where you need it patched...

Wes,

Thanks, dude, took your advice. The Midas shop had me in and out in 1.5 hours. 20" of pipe, two bends in it, cut the old out, weld the new in (just after the first CC), then weld a pin hole in the other side. $198 including PA tax, not bad... turned the urban blaster into a stelth mobile. It must have been leaking for well over a year, now with the new tires I have NEW CAR, move over Queen, the King is back! Well almost new, just need a plenum job, VC gaskets, plugs and hoses, a new front seats, new carpeting, new console wood... total paint job. Cash register says about 10K+ depending on the body shop. Or buy another one and put the required 12K into it. I've always wanted that deep mocha interior, saw one once and it was mighty fine.

Muffler is the stainless steel part. The one every newbie likes to throw away.

It's good to be back on NICO. I left when the change-over happened and I couldn't log in and at the same time got busy with a work assignment. I never lost the love for all things G50 (owned 5 of them ). Been driving G50s since 1992. I did try a BMW 5 series sport 5s for two years in 06/07 but liked the dear o'l Q better. To celebrate the return to NICO I removed the cracked wood console piece today, filled the cracks and sprayed it flat black. I just reinstalled it and it looks great on the King.
