HI,
I have 08 altima coupe 3.5se
well.. there is a metal clicking or ticking noise from the rear dashboard whenever I go over the bumpy roads. It makes noise when the left wheels hit the bumpy parts. When it hits the right wheels, it doesn't make any noise. weird.

anyways,
I really did everything I could do to fix the problem.
At first I thought it was coming off from the rear dashboard hitting the window, so I plugged like towels and everything that I could between the rear dashboard and the rear window. - not working
Second, I checked the seat belt. I took the dashboard out, and i know it is dangerous, but test drove without the rear seat belt. Like I unscrewed it and took it out. nope, not working.
Finally,
I sat on the back of the seat, took everything out except the metal (like the metal part after you take your dashboard out?) and asked my friend to drive it so I can know where the sound is coming from.
It was coming from the black metal, yet, I cannot really pinpoint what it is.
Every screw was tight and it looked perfect.

I tapped the metal part of the dashboard (w/o the dashboard) so I can figure out if something was rattling, but nothing.
It only happens when I drive it.
This thing drives me nuts. I went to the dealership, they don't have a clue.
I really hope you guys have an answer to this problem.
thankx.

hey man, i envy you for taking it that far because i couldnt drive myself to take it that far and take everything out. I have tried pinpointing the issue for a good 9 months now. I just cant get it. No one can. I came to the conclusion that this cars interior is just garbage. I love my coupe, but the only thing holding it back is the fact that everything shakes. My front dashboard has 3 different spots that rattle. My passanger seat lever ratles. My sun roof or the area above my head rattles. Just cheap sh*t. cant really complain though because i bought the car for the vq engine and looks mainly. I have become used to it and gave up. good luck though man it would be great it you can find a solution! :bigthumb:

Have you checked your suspension/chassis? Anything loose will cause that noise you are describing.

Just maybe, it's toooo tight !! and causing undue stress on the metal connections which could create a clicking sound when under flex conditions. Or it might be that the connections are tight, but there is still a gap between the connecting pieces.

Just a couple of ideas. I had a similar problem with my 08 coupe, and it was actually not the headliner, but the bracing for it.

I have rattling (spring, belt) kinda noise coming from the Front left of the vehicle. My friend took my front left tire off and check for bolts, everything is fine. the rattling has been there for almost a month now (it rattles when ever travel on bumpy or uneven road). I'm schedule this Friday to the Dealer for check up. i have a feelin they will just say something like " oh we dont hear anything, there is nothing wrong" .. yes my nissan dealer service department are pigs.

My cars "tink" noise was from the front. after taking the wheel off and examine closely. find out it was a Pin that holds the rotor in place thats lose, everytime the car go over bumpy road the pin make "tink" noise lol. anyways hope this might be one of the possible place to look for.
