i would love to know about the price range, (include the motor, swapped in, 5 lugs, rear brakes, and S15 front clip), your houghts on reiability, and also i would love to hear about how S13 drives in winter condition, and problems you guys are running into..

sorry for the stupied newbie question.a fwe pic of my car just incase you are intersted :ylsuper

Good clean cars! Be sure to use the red SEARCH button in the upper right hand corner, as it will give you most all the info you seek.

Welcome

I'd say $15k($6k motor,$4k body work, +brakes,suspension, etc)try http://www.afterdark-tuning.com for a quick price breakdown

240's drive pretty ****ty in snow, and if its 'hooked up' you should have a winter car.

Yeah, I don't even attempt to drive my car in the winter, so it's garaged all winter and I drive a sh** box during the winter. Nice cars and welcome.

I'd say a bit more like 8k for the body work.

4,000 for the body pieces750-2000 for the shop to fix up your car, staighten the body, and shut those rust holes under the spoiler.3000-4000 for a worthwhile paint job

What kind of power are you looking for after the swap? Are you going to go fullout with coilovers, LSD, Z32 brake swap?

it will add up quick...

if you do all the work yourself it will be not too expensive (the performance mods).

heres the way i see it:

-P.O.S. S13 coupe for $1500 with no rust and high milage(your replacing everything anyway)-S13=>S15 headlight conversion $3000-3500 shipped-S14 SR20DET $3600 + Shipping for a guarrenteed complete motor froma reliable source (installing yourself will save you at least $1000)-a really nice paintjob $1500-$theskyisthelimit. Doing all the prep work yourself will save you a bunch of money.-5 lug conversion with big brake (300zx, R32...)conversion with junkyard parts $500-700, with reconditioned part $1000+. Again, installing yourself will save you an assload of money.

There is no way you will complete a project like that for under 12 or 13 grand with the bare minimum of parts (as in like you would have a completely stock SR in there). Most of the guys in here that do SR swaps end up spending 5-7K on the motor alone with decent performance parts and installation done by themselves.

If you do not install the parts yourself you are looking at a bare minimum of 15-16K.

i think 15-16k is pretty high myself, i think for your areformentioned parts and such, if u do the labor yourself, you're looking at a cool 11k, 12-13k at MOST, but just remember, when doing something like this, spare no expense, if you're gonna do it, do it right, welcome to NICO, and i love your car, ok, thats all

your VW's are awesome. i love them both. your plans for the s13 sound good, but why go with the s14 sr20? are you planning on gettin alot of power out of the motor or are you just going to basically put it in the car and leave it alone with maybe a fmic and stuff? if you want to get alot of power out of an sr, s13 sr20 is the way to go. but yea, great plans! good luck!

Since I can't edit my other post, sorry to hijack...The VW is gone, I stripped it down and sold it stock to cut my expenses. I went with the 240 because I knew I'd like it stock and like it a lot when I started modding it, but those plans are done as it was totalled out a few days ago read about it here The vw put 195hp/233lbs to the wheels and was in the best color IMO, Matchstick Red (Until they brought back Jazz Blue). Those are 18x8 OZ SL's painted dark metallic gray pearl. It was a fun car but I longed for hot hot RWD action so here I am.
