Hi - I just bought a 2003 350z Touring 6spd the other day, and its pretty cool so far. It's taking a little getting used to with the visibility and gearbox and all, but I'm enjoying it.

But I hear a deep osciallating noise that changes based on speed, kinda like a tire noise, although I'm not sure if it happens at all speeds or just low speeds because of ambient road noise.. It happens with or without braking too so I dont think its the pads or rotors or anything. Could this be an indication of uneven tire wear? Or should I not really worry about it? Also, my driveway is on a sorta steep hill, like 30 degrees. I parked it tonight and with the parking brake on and the car in neutral, it rolled backwards down the hill almost as if the brake wasnt on at all. But when I put it into first it stayed put. I'm fairly sure although not certain that I had the brake all the way up when I parked it in neutral. Thanks

Welcome to Nico!the noise could be the typical tire wear, might be worth a stop by the dealer to be sure it's nothing mechanical, as for the e-brake, did you pull it enough? could you get another click out of it? when parking on a steep grade you should pull the parking brake and leave it in gear as well, if it's terribly steep I'd find a more level spot to park, manual cars on steep grdes make me paranoid, with an auto you have a positive locking pawl taht engages the output shaft with a parking brake you pull strail on a steel cable and hope it doesn't stretch any

Welcome. evildky's right on all counts. the OEM Bridgestones on the 03 are a bit noisy to begin with. I noticed my original set got louder as they wore down. If you notice some feathering wear on your front tires, Nissan had sent out a notice to 03 owners to bring the car into the dealer to correct it.

As far as parking on incline with any manual transmission car, it's always best to leave it in gear with the engine off in addition to the e-brake. I actually go a step more and leave it in a gear in the opposite direction of the incline. for example, if the nose is downhill, I leave it in reverse.

Enjoy your Z. They're a lotta fun.

yes you can run a staggered wheels, and so long as the offset is correct it won't hurt anything except ride quality due to the shorter sidewalls
