Usually a car is a salvage when the insurance company deems that repair costs would exceed the actual value of the car. And for a G35, this is more likely so. Water damage can destroy the interior in ways you won't know until the summer, when the air is warm. I didn't realize this until a summer trip to Venice when those beautiful canals turned into stinking, dank, smelling roadways with sewage traveling down the waterways-- you can't see or smell it in the winters, but once the hot summer air arrives, it's nauseating. Also, water has a nasty habit of being a car's #1 enemy since much of the damage starts in unseen places (car seats, upholstery, carpeting, electrical system, etc.). Hopefully, the damage isn't too bad and a few $$ will do the job.
