Hi I am new to the NICO board...i absolutly love 240sx's i have been looking for them for the last 1 1/2 years, I am only 17 but my dad says i could spent 7 thousand dollars on a 240. I am looking for a 180sx or a S14 style'd 240. My question is what engine do i put in it?...... one of my friends who works at A-spec Tuning has a 240sx that has a Rb25det and his friend is gonna put a Rb30? in his s13, Well i would like a Sr20 but i was wondering if it was worth the extra money to buy the S15 motor that has 250whp? or if i should just buy the one that makes 205whp....any help would be greatly appreciated

First of all welcome to NICO!:jazz:

IMO the basic redtop will have plenty of power for such a light car. Also if you reall crave more later on you can always do thingsto make more boost safe.I just got a S13 with a redtop in it myself and its plenty at 11lbs.

Fred..:)

Seriously...research first then go out and do it. I don't want yet another bandwagon jumper messing up a 240 (not directed towards you so don't get defensive).

I wouldn't bother swapping, but thats just me. I don't see the need to swap, when the same power could be made from a properly tuned KA, with the torque delivery being in the low rpms (which I prefer to the rev-happy SR). But each to their own.

alright thanks guys, 1 other question does anyone besides Greddy make a good turbo kit for the KA cause if i could find a 240 with low mileage i would just do the turbo kit. I would really like a Sr20 but thats just me. I'll take your advice and research a little bit more. Thanks again and no affence taken by the whole "jumping on the band wagon"

NO. If its got that many miles on it, make sure you either rebuild or swap it if you're planning on any forced induction/nitrous.

Edit: If you're looking for a more linear powerband, also research supercharging the KA. Its been done, and has yielded some nice results.

Edit #2: Theres a certain moderator on this board thats making a niiice turbo kit for the 240;). Otherwise, I suggest you go custom.

If you plan on spending 7 grand, and want a motor swap, you will probably want to buy a non-running s13 then swap the motor and put the rest of the money into parts. I dont think its feasible to buy a s14 and swap it with 7 grand.

altiman is right, a nice s14 (zenki) will cost you around 5-6k. A properly done SR swap (redtop) is easily going to cost 3-4k if u dont do it yourself. Also, the s15 sr doesnt have 25oWHP, its got 246hp at the crank (as claimed from the factory), the only real plus of getting the s15 engine is even lower mileage and also you get a t28 turbo as opposed to hte redtops small t25 which will probably need replacing.
