Hi all! I'm new to the G35 forum and just recently purchased a used 04 coupe with 66K kms. private sale.

I came from the Pontiac Grand Prix club, and have a GP GT nat. aspirated where I installed an M90 supercharger and have a DHP Power Tuner for it.

Upon reading, I'm still confused whether the G35 has a tuner that has access to change parameters in the PCM or ECU.

In my soon to be winter car (old GP GT, ..G35 coupe now my summer car ) my DHP powr tuner came with a bin (the ECU parameters) and have total access to MAF (for 02 increase and LTFT tuning), PE TP% (power enrichment per throttle position), access to all spark advance per rpm and per IAT (intake air temp.) and many, many more.

I've seen some tuners at 350zmod.com and wondering who has what, and how they are.

Although, truth is I haven't even been able to remove my engine cover on my 04 coupe 'cause I'm so busy at work.

I;m also actually curious to see if there's a scanner for the G35 coupe to scan for knock (or knock retard during WOT).

Please just excuse my many questions, for I really like my new, used 04 coupe

By the way I was just able to bring my GPGT sedan to do 14.1@97 in the 1/4 mile with a big 3.8" pulley with stock exhaust manifold and stock cam. It's a 16 sec. car stock

Also, what do stock coupe do in the 1/4 mile ET?

Looking forward to this club, and this weekend I'll try to get familiar with the engine bay and the VQ 35 engine. Thanks.

Welcome to NICO and to your new G35.

I would look into the Cobb Accessport (though I don't believe it does much in the way of custom tuning, more of a toy in my opinion).

It should allow you to do basic monitoring and they have some generic tunes available.

Another option would be UpRev. Much more beneficial in my opinion. They have 3 different options.

1) Is just a data cable that plugs into your OBDII port for monitoring purposes 2) Is a complete tuning solution that allows for 5 custom maps to be flashed on your ECU and controlled via your cruise control buttons.3) If you like tuning yourself, they have a complete custom tuning package with tuning software.

The down side to the UpRev setup is that you'll need a computer or laptop to plug in, where as the Cobb Accessport is a unit unto itself (don't want to say "stand alone" because that implies something else).

I believe the G does close to 14 in the 1/4. Not sure, I haven't taken mine to a strip yet.

Thanks guys for the informative replies. I do prefer to do custom tune, and that way basic n/a mods are well used. I really like having access to timing, that way detonation is controlled/avoidable.

I'll look into that UPRev. complete package with tuning software.

I've been wondering about this "Turbo XS Utec Engine Management System: 2003-06 Nissan 350z/2003-06 Infiniti G35" found at 350zmod.com

Today I replaced my air filter with just a regular Motomaster. Here are pics of the car.

I've spent like $900 to have the upholstery back in tip top shape. There were holes, cig. burn marks and worn marks on the seats.

The car when I bought it private.

I just edited.. Here's my winter car for now..

These are pics from almost 3 yrs. ago.

Welcome to NICO!

I'll say what I say to everyone who asks about tuners...don't bother unless you have a big power adder like FI. For the money you don't get much.

Decent power can come from:

Short Ram intake (popcharger, either JWT or Stillen)Z- Tube5/16 plenum spacerCAT-back exhaust

Maybe it's just me, but I cannot drive something now without knowing what's going on with the engine. Tuning is a long learning experience, with lots of trial and error.

In my previous car, I've had the DHP tuner when my old car was still naturally aspirated, and 'till I bought the ZZP M90 s/c kit. You can never get the right tune overnight and the experience of tuning is somewhat of a priceless experience.
