most of these answers can be found in the 240sx.org FAQ's. But I've got no life so here we go.
Loveless wrote:1) 1990~1994 model of 240sx are identical right? which generation are these 240sx?
1989-1994 sold in the usa are S13. They are not identical Front bumper change in 1991 and 1994 was only LE Convertable. 89-90 have SOHC motor, 90-98 have DOHC
Quote »2) I had hard time finding infos about 180sx, 200sx also but they are somewhat identical compared to 240sx?
not at all identical. Different motors CA18 or SR20 depending on year. Several different trim levels (J Q & K) K being turbocharged. other differences depending on trim include Vlsd and different brakes.
Quote »3) does stock 240sx transmission come with lsd? this is very important, I am under the impression that only some 240sx have lsd...? what is the transmission code for the one with lsd?
You are speaking FWD here. 240sx's are Rear wheel drive, the lsd (or vlsd in this case) is not in the transmission. They are seperate rear differentials. Only 240sx's with SUPER HICAS (4wheel steering) have VLSD.
Quote »4) what are the common problems with this particular generation
Bad smell, worn interior, broken antenna and missing jack/toolkits Quote »5) they have the flip down head lamp right? what kind of bulb do low beams take? possible to swap in HIDs?
Hi/low beam are together in the same crappy headlight housing. I dont know the replacement bulb off the top of my head but i do know the the BOSCH h4 is a popular conversion.
Quote »6) insurance rate, which one will be better? 94 integra gsr or 94 240sx?
pretty specific question that i cant answer. I cant tell you that I, a 20yo male with a mostly clear driving record has insurance on a 93 SE through state farm (expensive) and i have full coverage(more expensive) all for around $140/mo. You can get way better than that but I like my agent.
Quote »7) there are the normal, SE, fasttrack trims right? any performance difference between them?
No difference in respect to motor. The base model will be lighter due to lack of power windows/mirrors. I doubt you would really call that a 'performance' difference though.
Quote »8) what is the chasis code and engine code for stock 1990~1994 240sx?
S13 KA24DE Quote »9) is the stock engine dual or single cam? and what is the redline on this particular engine?
answered above, and 6800 IIRC.
Quote »10) car weight would be nice to know also
this depends on base model vs SE and hatchback vs coupe. aproximate range is 2200 - 2800
