Hello all,

My name is Ryan and I am the new owner of a 1994 Q45. I'm really excited to drive it, because it's just a beautiful looking car. I want to make it a bit of a project car, but I'm really just getting a start when it comes to working on cars. So here are a few questions;

1. Where is the fuel filter located?2. The drvers side door window does not open and the drivers side door doesn't unlock with the remote. Are the two problems easily fixed, and is one problem causing the other problem? I would think that it's just a relay or something like that, but I don't know the car too well.3. Will I enjoy this car?

Thanks everyone, talk to you soon,

Ryan

Welcome to NICO - I'm far from the best person to talk to about your problems - but just wanted to say hi

#3 - I would think so. Depends on what sort of cars you enjoyed in the past, regardless this is one of the best engineered cars in history, it would be rather difficult not to enjoy

Passenger side, at about where #2 (front) spark plug is. It's a 2" diameter silver can. You can't miss it.

The window not rolling up could be the power window amplifier located in the door panel, a problem with the regulator/motor (burned up), or the cable has come off the tracks. If you can get the window fully down you should be able to see the pulley for the cable and see if its come off the tracks.

If the door unlocks with the key and not the remote it's probably the door lock actuator (in the door) but it may also be a broken plastic clip on one of the many rods. Is the door lock bar on the DF door locking all 4 doors?

All these parts can be had used for a reasonable price in the parts forum. You could also do a self-diagnosis following the steps in the FSM. It should lead you to the problem.

If you can afford to invest a few $$ to get her running right you're going to enjoy the heck out of it. It's an amazing car, especially the 94-95 with all the upgrades from the 90-93. Careful in the snow though. Enjoy.
