Hi everyone, I recently purchased a 96 maxima that was stuck in 5th gear. The transmission is now in the transmission shop as I could not find the problem with it. Anyway the plan is to pimp it out. It need a new back bumper anyway, and It kinda looks like grandma's car, so I wan't to get a body kit for it. They come with front and rear bumpers and side skirts. there are many kits out there, Any thoughts on which brands are better would be appreciated. thanks. Seawolf

body kits do nothing as far as pimpin out - go with some shag carpet, suade seats, fuzzy dice etc

it doesn't matter which kit you get, they're all the same - meaning will crack if you hit a tall driveaway etc. just get the one you like. are you trying for the fast and furious look? if so you won't get much love from the max community ie guys with altezza tails

soooooo...you want an "all show, and no go" car? Well, the VG30 already "go's", so you just wanna add a little show.

ok...what look are you going for?? the heavy chrome rims with the fiberglass body kit and flashy lights...or the lightweight powder coated rims, 2" drop, performance suspension, simple clean skirt kit, N/A kinda look?

btw, welcome to NICO

edt. my bad--he's got a 4th gen VQ

thanks for the input. I am kinda looking for the fast and furious look. The car just looks like a grandmas car right now. It needs a back bumper anyway, so I am thinking about getting a body kit. They seem to start at about $550 and up to about 1200. These cars perform rather well, so I am not too concerned about the engine right now. I do not want to lower it, Where I live, ground clearance is a must. Although after the body looks the way I like, I will think about some upgrades to the intake and exhaust. I want it to sound healthy without noise pollution. Maybe a supercharger someday, along with Nitrous. Hey I can dream alittle. Rims are a must. I havn't really checked out this site too much yet. Are there people on here with maximas that they are in the process of building? thanks again Seawolf

Best thing to do with a 4th gen is to get a simple kit which consists of lip spoiler and side skirts (more or less an aero kit only). NOTHING ricey. Then put the car on coilovers with 18-19"rims max. Make sure the car has a clean paint setup then save up for a SC and 5sp swap if you have an auto.

For the rest of you jokers, go troll GenChat and not the Maxima forum. Thanks.

Thanks for the pic. It loads when I right click view image. That is kinda what I want it to look like. I was wondering about the different brands of kits, which brands may be better than others. Thanks
