Yes get the 04 because its newer and it has the updated ECU software which means its quicker than the 02 unless the 02 has the updated software as well. If they both have been updated then go with the cheapest.

The 04 has a different gear ratio and I believe heated/cooled seats. Check also if it has oil consumption issue. Get an extended warranty if you can.

Many differences, mostly in the electronics. Go with the 2004 if it has the better service history.

Read the sticky above.

The old rule of thumb is never buy the first year of a new model. Give them a chance to work the bugs outs. BTW, the 02 is listed as being more unreliable than other year infinitis. I assume the later the model of the third generation Q45s is the more reliable it will be if they fix any problems they find. But its a low production car so they might not have much money or incentive to re-engineer any problems they find. Can't find any reliability data on the later model so this is just a guess. It took them fhree or four years to fix the chain guide problems on the first generation Q45 models, and they never fixed the unreliable door locks or dimmer control or headlight relay problems of the J30

Get an '04.You'll be much happier with it. Faster, more reliable, and probably more goodies, plus lower mileage and less time for plastic/rubber components to age, not to mention suspension and trans being in newer condition. It will cost more in front, but less money for repairs, and less hassle with doing them, less depreciation and longer life.
