Just wanted to say hello to everyone, the gf is looking at buying a new car, and she is trying to decide between the Yaris sedan, the new Suzuki Sport, and the Versa Hatchback, she didn't like the Versa in the sedan form for some reason? I dunno, we are still talking, and figuring out what to do, I for one want to get a manual, and she wants automatic, so trying to convince her into a stick is one tough thing! haha. Hope to searching around and doing some research on the internet with other owners, so don't mind if I ask questions about the car, who knows, I might buy one!

We have test drove a CVT, and neither of us were really enthusiastic about it, the auto is ok, but you can't buy the SL in automatic, so stick it would be if we happen to find one nearby in SL.

We also test drove the new Suzuki SX4 sport in an auto transmission, and we were impressed in the way it drove compared to the Versa, I still want to test drive the manual version though myself, just because they are more fun to drive. But the SX4 is quite a bit smaller, and even with the crossover AWD hatch, it still has less cargo room in the back, shoulder, and head room too, and at 6', that is something important, but an added bonus of the SX4 is that it has a trip computer to tell you your expected mpg with your driving conditions, and how many miles you can expect until empty. A nice little feature. With both there are things you can get with one that you can't with the other.

We still have not been to the dealer to see the Yaris, but she has driven in one with her friend who has one, and she likes it, but not as much as the Versa she says. I think a new car would make for a nice Christmas present this year. Yes I know I know, Christmas just passed, but as 19, almost 20, money is tight, so I should be able to save a nice bit of money by around that time!

No, if I were to get the Rabbit, I would kick myself in the butt for not getting the GTi, which is out of our price range. Right now we just need a more reliable form of transportaion.

I can't say much about the stick shift, as I bought a CVT. (Although I went in expecting to buy a stick.) However, if you search for ScanGuage on this forum, you'll find an option for a good trip computer for under $200 that will work on any modern car.

Welcome.

And the Versa is mostly choosen/liked for its better HP, room/size, and features. The fully loaded SL in 6spd is a really good car for the price (biased I guess since I have one). Good luck on the search.
