Heya, i'm Alex *new here*I drive an 01' Altima GXE LE.

I need some tips from Altima tuners on what exactly i should do to make my baby the best it can be.

I got it when i was 16 *last year* and so far i have put on a CF hood i cannot remember the name but i think it is called Night Stalker?, Stainless steel exhaust, and for some reason i cannot remember took off the air filter.

So far i was thinking of getting a Weapon-R intake (cost effective, looks nice, so i've heard good performer) next. but if someone could can you give me a rundown on what i should do and the order i should do it in? and if its not much trouble an estimated price of the mod...

Many thanks!

So your looking for performance I take it? If so a CAI cant do you any wrong. Is the Weapon R a cold air intake or short ram? I had a short ram Injen Intake on my 2000 gxe altima that I had. Also consider saving up and getting a header for it, I believe hotshot still makes one for the car. Since you already have an exhaust system you should be good to go, hopefully you had them make it 2.5in cat back.

For the header you can expect to pay somewhere around 400.And for a intake somewhere between 150 for a short ram and 200 for a full cold air intake.

If you want more performance then that you can turbo the engine but will prob have to piece together your own turbo kit.

A good site for you to log on too and start learning stuff about your car would be http://www.altimas.net , I still post there every now and again.

Cool thanks for the info!

Weapon R, is a short ram i recall.

The reason I picked it, or might pick it is from the test results here.

http://www.tprmag.com/issue/1/sr-results.shtml

these are the CAI resultshttp://www.tprmag.com/issue/1/ca-results.shtml

rpm wise my car wont go past 6500 rpm, from what i read on the charts SR intakes showed better results from 0-6.5k rpm. Weapon-r having the best imo. If i am wrong please tell me

I greatly appreciate the help btw.

///edit

I also saw this...http://www.turbonator.com/index.htmlnow, im not the one to even begin to trust sites like this however it looks like a nifty little addition.

so is this "turbonator" a good find? or a piece of crap?

Thanks!

here's a list of my mod's on my 1996 altima SE (5spd) cold air intake(free, customer wanted removed from car they bought), Nismo thermostat($60), custom catback (no cat, lawson muffler $90), timing advancement, gutted precat(free and easy), A/C delete(free again), and shorter series tires(makes gear ration around 3.96) all that was good for bout 4 tenths in an 1/8th. so yea if u can work on your car u can do things cheap.

Doesn't the Weapon R have a foam style filter? If it does look for something else or replace the filter with an Apexi or K&N (the two top rated filters based on some tuning companies test). I have also heard that the Weapon R isn't made with high qualtiy, I would suggest the Stillen Hi Flow Intake (it works for me). Also the Turbonator or Tornado or other like products don't work like they claim to. If you want real power go turbo, nitrous, or swap in a motor that comes stock with a turbo.

I have an 01 gle and I found that Stillen can provide just about all that you need intake, exaust, headerw/racepipe, underdrive pulley, ignition systems, sway bars, roters, the list goes on. they are a bit pricey but quality is top notch also take into accout their history with nissan.also check out OBX they have tons of goodies for our babies.Unfortunatly with all of the above 200hp is about the limit give or take a few.Turbos must be pieced together bit by bit which requires a ton of know how and money neither of which I have so the question you ask your self is how dedicated are you.contact me if you like.Im sympathetic to your situation and want to see your progress.

I wish someone with money would put a 150 shot, had it camming (kinda like the muscle cars from the drag strip), port and polish, and bored and stroked the motor just to see what this motor can do with NA which IMO is a great Nissan's best NA I-4 motor.

Hey, the KA is already a stroked motor. There really isnt any more room to bore the motor. Any more would cause leakage between the 2nd and 3rd cylinder. Wish we could though!!

quick easy cheap upgrade would be to upgrade cams with the 91-94 240sx cams. read about it in the 240 tech forum. its near the top. I am getting ready to install mine next week after i get my head back from the machine shop.I am running a short ram intake and stock exhaust. people always want to argue with me saying that i have more than that, but i dont. Its funny to see peoples faces when you race them and blow them by in what they first think is a slow family car.

If your gonna run Nitrous I recommend the Zex wet kit. I have it on my 02. I think it's the safest kit out there. The NMU(Nitrous Management Unit) automatically cuts the Nitrous when it senses a fuel cut. Keeps you from blowing up those precious metal parts. Plus it only activates at wide open throttle which it detects throught the TPS sensor. I highly recommend it.
