After installing my new wheels tires, it appears as though my subframe bushings are shot.

The important question – can I continue driving to work for a few weeks until I can afford to get this fixed? I work about 5 km from my house, smooth roads, and I'd drive cautiously...or is this just a reallllllly bad idea?

Here are 2 pics:

Wait wait...did you undo the subframe bolts? Because it looks like your subframe isn't even bolted in.

But if you just unbolted the nuts to take pictures then yeah, collars are a good idea. Although I drove with busted subframe bushings for a while.

Well the subframe does not look like it is bolted in properly, I would check your subframe bolt torque. That looks a bit dangerous to drive around with the subframe hanging off like that. My bushings were shot and barely in there but I never had that wide of a gap on my subframe as you are showing there.

Wow, that's a big gap. I had a tough time trying to get enough space to slide some collars in there. Do you hear a "clunk" when shifting hard from 1st to 2nd or going in reverse and then disengaging the clutch?

Sorry guys, forgot to mention the car was jacked up when those photos were taken...

I think it's safe to drive – only hear a metal on metal noise if I turn right vvvery hard.

Mine were shot when I replaced them, but I still didnt have a gap like that. That looks like it isn't tightened up all the way, i would try to tighten it and be very weary of driving with them like that
