Hey guys,

Been lurking, didn't see anything about this anywhere. I have a 1991 nissan president (sold as the q45 in N.A.) and my a/c is acting up. It will come on when I turn on the car, but then go dark about a minute or so later. When it shuts off, i can't even turn it on, as if it's not getting any power to the climate control at all. And then, a couple minutes after that, it turns back on!

Any ideas?

J

some of the zenki G50 dudes may chime in, but i believe that was a common issue. Doesn't apply to the kouki's. leaky capacitor? There is a fix. search old posts, and perhaps check the "jerry Tucker" repair shop site (San Diego CA). They used to advertise making that repair.

:welcome: to NICO Jawrey!

If the whole controller (not just the display) is dropping out, it's not the usual failure mode... at least not the way we see it on the US models.

Here's the fix for the display issue that we experience here. fix-for-1990-1993-q45-climate-controlle ... 99-30.html

I had a similar problem with mine, but the display wouldn't black out, and everything stayed functional except for compressor control. I finally figured out that I didn't plug it in completely.

I'd check the connections at the back of the controller first. Next, figure out where the 12V and ground enter the unit and check to make sure the controller is getting voltage by probing the pins through the back of the connector with a voltage meter.

I don't have access to service manuals for anything but USDM models, but that may be a starting point for you. Check out http://www.infinitiservicemanual.com

Good luck!

Heath
