Going to try & tackle changing out the cats tomorrow. :ohno: Any advice for me on the 3.7? Beach suggested leaving the original bolts from the exhaust manifold in. Along with an ECU reset. I'm sure the bolts are extremely tight from the constant contracting and expanding from the heat. So I'll try and soak them with WD40 or 3in1 oil. Any other suggestions? :gotme

Be prepared to buy new studs and get a 48" extension. You may have more fortune than me (2013 M37x had 8,000 miles at the time of install) but the studs weren't happy with me tampering with them. Being you live in CA it may not be so bad as I doubt your car has seen salt. 48" extension on a 1/2" ratchet makes the front ones easier to reach from under the hood with the intakes removed.

I tried. Unsuccessfully. I researched it. Noticed 1 bolt was best to remove from under the hood. Removed the TB tube. Couldn't use 1/2 inch. Didn't have enough extensions. Used the next size down. I kept slipping on the bolt. Didn't want to strip it. Tried several times. So I just gave up. Need to find someone to help me out. Muffler shops around me refuse to install in fear of CARB.

Just from looking at the FSB page 36 and 37 on this site, it really doesn't look that hard. If you don't have the right tools then get what you need.

I'm not sure where in the bay area you are but you can try a performance shop. They do plenty bolt-on exhaust and turbo car work so they should have no problem getting the cats off.

I'm in the East Bay Debonair. I'm trying local shops to me. But they're all deathly afraid I work for CARB. I'd try again if I had some help. Not afraid of the job. But at this point. Still recovering from an injury. So I'm somewhat limited. But if you have any suggestions. Completely willing to go down to San Jose. I went down there to meet Rob from Z car garage. Nice dude. But he refused to tune my car if I installed the EPS tb's. so off to Sonoma for tuning once I do need it.

The trick here is to have a shop loosen the bolts for you. Make no mention of HFC's or modifications of any type. If they press you for information, tell them what you need to calm their concerns about what you are up to. ;) There are no laws against having them break the bolts loose for you. Once they have unfroze the bolts you should have no problem doing the rest on your own.
