Heya folks! I just wrecked my 94 DOHC Cutlass and I'm thinking of buying a 91-93 240SX to replace it. Is there anything I should be aware of when shopping for one? What is considered high mileage (in kms if you live north of the border)? I don't have a whole pile of cash to spend since the ins. company is lowballing my vehicle worth, but I've found a few 240's that are in my price range. Also, what are the repair costs like? I'm a pretty good wrench turner on my cars, but the Cutlass was a pain to work on. Anyways, thanks for any info you guys (and girls) can provide.

well for my friend's 90 240, he has to pay about 1000 for a complete paint job and some body repair like the dents and stuff....if it's been in an accident, it's probably not worth buying though, coz it's never gonna be the same...i am also looking for a 240 and i found one that's about 2700 bucks....my friend paid about the same for his.

Thanks for the info! Really, all I'm looking for is a list of stuff that other 240 owners would like to have known about before they bought their cars. The more I know, the better off I am when I purchase one.

No kidding! I'd sure like to know what I'm getting into. A couple of the cars I'm looking at are being sold by Nissan dealers so Id imagine they're mostly if not all stock.

exactly! and i personally dont like dealing with the dealers, i like dealing with the owner better. i like to see the owner driving the car on the road that's for sale than a car that's been sitting in the same spot waiting to be sold!

if you end up gettin a 240 then im pretty sure youll be happy with it, they are(in my opinion and experience) very reliable and when something does need to be repaired they are deff not a high maintenance car....i dont think there is really anything big to look out for in the 240's that you wouldnt in any other car, but good luck on your car situation

hope that helped /\

Thanks man! After that Cutlass, I'd be happy with a regular maintenance car. I read a small post in here about things to look for when buying so I'm pretty set. Have you had any problems with the head gasket in yours? There was some dispute about it in the forum I was reading and I'd like to get it straight.

Welcome to the boards and good luck trying to find a car...

as far a the car goes.. you couldn't find a better car for the amount of money you will end up spending... 240's are very reliable cars!

just post up what cars you have seen and how much it is with as much detail as possible and most people here will tell you how much you should pay for it and even if you should go for the car...

There's 10 in the autotrader.ca website. Just look under all of Ontario, any year range, up to $5000. Thanks for the advice and help people! I really appreciate it.

post this under the 240sx general section... because a lot of those people don't tend to come out here often enough...
