How is the travel affected? Is it better or the same as the AC lift?

Since I'm keeping this bish (for now) and if I ever have spare change to put money into it, I want to get the best lift for my buck.

Let me know your thoughts/experiences with offroading, etc. Before I deal with the front struts again, I'm going to make sure it's the last time I deal with that BS!

i just finished the OME lift 99.5% (minus a broken bumpstop) u should check it out sometime! never had the AC lift but i understand the basics of it.... AC lift sits higher and as a result, has less travel cause its sitting so damn close to maximum extension (thats why AC lift makes a loud clunk on speedbumps)

Sounds like a plan. When are you free? I'd like to be able to check out the travel on it.

I'll bring my jacks and you bring yours and will measure how much travel there is.

What about that guy out in AZ? He said he was going to do some 4x4ing with his lift. I want to know what his experience with it is out on the trails.

what do you mean, travel? Our suspensions will have the same amount of total travel cause its the same struts and shocks. only mine will sit a little higher. behave a little differently while driving. The two biggest differences i felt were that it leans more on turns, and also floats over the gnarliest road hazards like it's nothing. But i havent REALLY been able to give it a true test b/c m,y bumpstop

i think articulation would even remain the same....

i do want to get longer rear shocks to gain a few inches of rear travel/articulation. did u see InfinQX4's trail run report on NPORA? beautiful QX4.

also here are photos of my lame broken bump stop, preventing me from really testing out my new suspension

Damn. I need to spend more time on NPORA.

I'm really concerned more about not topping out I'd say. I say travel, and I really thinking how much of the play is left vs. AC lift. Does that make sense?

And why were you removing the bump stops? I'll have to check my FSM. I don't recall that being necessary.

Haven't had AC springs, but the setup I have is great! Very happy with the results.

IMO, from a travel stand point, you should get a littel more down with the OME as the lift is less. With the spacer on to of the strut, your not affecting the travel as much, because the strut will remain closer to stock, minus the additional compression difference with new spring. This is not as exaggerated with OME as AC.

Have yet to top out once.

The other issue is the CVs of course, and I suppose this is a matter of what kind of trails you are on. I have yet to bind or have an issue. But am expected to put on Warn hubs, and still have the option of a custom front diff drop to ease the angle at some point.

The rear isn’t as much of an issue. I did move to the OME shocks as they are beefier and I think a little longer. I’ll put the OME strut on once my GR2s need replaced, but they were almost new and I didn’t want to spend another $450 for the OME at the time. I think they are a little longer as well to compensate for the change in spring height. This is what I’ve heard anyway. ARB certainly will recommend using them and indicated to me that they were different than stock.

Sweet. That's exactly what I was getting at. I was thinkign you'd have more travel "left" with the OME and spacers. And yeah, I'm planning on going SFD at some point.

It's funny, our tires are the same size, but your your MT's and agressive tread, look much more baller in your pre-lift pics.

the bfg is a bad a** tire. durable as hell. i havent gotten any compliments on my current ones, same size as Infin QX4's (except last week a cute girl asked me if they were "tires that can go over anything" haha) but when i had the larger BFG's that didnt even really fit my car right, i was getting compliments everywhere i went and a few toyota owners even asked me if they were for sale.

These BFG's are a great tire. When it's time to replace them, I'm sure I'll go with something bigger, ideally BFG M/T. Came real close to doing that when the lift went on, but counldn't justify beyond "just because".For now, I'm happy.

I barely have >10K miles on my current set, so probably by the time it's time for new ones I'll have this bish lifted and it'll be worth the expense.

Maybe I'll even have new rims on...
