:) Hey there everyone this is my first time here on this forum. I have a 1990 Nissan 240sx SE. I am planning on making it a pretty fast car. I have one quick question. What is the best cold air intake for my car. I have not been able to find one.

I'd say either Injen or AEM. Injen and I'm not sure about AEM can be found at http://www.enjukuracing.com

Ok, thanks. I love enjukuracing.com, that would probably have to my most favorite site to look for High performance stuff. I also like Jspec they have some good stuff. Is this a cold air?, it doesn't say that it is, i just want to make sure. http://w1.igateway.com/clients...=form

You really should consider purchasing the extension pipe which will bring the filter down by your grill, hence drawing in the cold air as opposed to the warm air in your engine compartment. This is what I've learned at least, if I'm wrong guys, please correct me.

Nah, I want to get the air from around the tire, where it is lower to the ground and colder unless your way goes very close to the ground. I don't know. try to show me some pics of what you are talking about.

I'm quite sure that Injen or AEM never made a CAI intake for the 89-90 240sx, I hope someone will prove me wrong 'cause i would like one if they do (i drive a 90 too).

AEM makes the intake for SOHC, but not DOHC. I've got a '91, and my only option for an intake is injen.

As far as i know anyways. I could be wrong.

Heh, should I go out and show all of you how to ghetto rig a cold air extension with the factory airbox? All it takes is some tubing, hand tools, and elecrtical tape. : )

AEM intakes only 91-94 and 95-98

Injen intake for 89-90 but no CAI extestion

I will probably make a custom one like this one.

I don't have a Injen or AEM. I have a home made cold air intake. I cut the hole where the resonator was to be a bit bigger so it will fit the end of a filter and I used some self drilling screws to hold it in place, then buy some cheap 3 inch tubbing from Menards and connect the whole rig up. Seems to work fine so no need for AEM or Injen.

Here are some pic's. My digi cam is a POS so the image quailty isn't exactly the best. The filter is where the resonator used to be.

Pretty cool, how far down does that tubing go?

It goes just to the hole where the resonator was and is attached to the filter that is down there. If you look through the vents under the signal lights on the front bumber, you'll see the filter in there so I think it gets a pretty good amount of air when ur moving.

OH YEAH!! It adds about 30HP!!! for only 300 BUCKS!! My rearend it does. The only noticable thing is idle is smoother, and rpm past 5k does not drop in rate of increase. That's about it. Other then that, I'd say it's pretty much the same as the stock ignition. I haven't tried 100+ Octane though, it should add some HP with high octane level. I'll throw in some octane booster and see whats up.

Injen is the best intake. Does anyone know where to get a larger throttle body.

Again with the larger TB! Why would you need to? The KA throttle body is HUGE.... If you want, there is a place that will bore it out, and replace the butterfly valve with a new one to match (it was on the old board.. maybe 240sx.org has something about it).... but realistically you would never need it.. did you notice the Tb is BIGGER than your intake pipe!!!!!

MSD is a company that makes ignition components. You can find them at most autoparts stores. They are usually a special order item, not something they would have in stock.

I clicked the wrong button, sorry. What can you do with the ignition to add 30hp?

Well... come on back.... why did you end up in the sleepy little town of Gorham... visiting the University of Southern Maine.. that's about the only thing here worth seeing... except my car!!
