Not to be outdone by you and your punching bags, Hubby and I actually wore out our treadmill and had to replace it. Just had a new NordicTrack delivered. And just like your luck, they had put 2 left pieces of trim in there instead of a left and a right. I mean really...can't anybody make anything right anymore.

Can't wait to use it. Lots of goodies on it and a 15% incline. :mike

Very nice!!!!!
Have a Pacemaster treadmill in my building, but spend most of my time on the Sole E35 Elliptical when not beating on the heavy bag!!! When you get old like me, you will switch to an elliptical to save your joints!!! :chuckle:
Reminds me....I need to call Everlast!!!

I was up at 5 this morning doing my workout video. I refuse to get old.

Can you believe that those idiots wanted me to send the whole treadmill back??? Those poor fellas had pulled it up my steep driveway and taken it up my stairs and had it half way put together. I grabbed his phone and I told them HELL NO! I had burned vacation time to come home for this and they could just mail me the plastic part. She put me on hold for a minute or two and said I should have it in a week. People are crazy.

This treadmill has springs on the base and I walk in Shape-ups so my foot rolls more and doesn't pound. I can't do an eliptical. It hurts my shins after about 2 minutes.

God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy!!! You can quote me.... :gapteeth:

I have had shin splints in the past and got them recently when my gun permits came in and I walked very quickly down to the sheriff's office to pick them up!!
Took 39 days to get purchase permits!!!!
They were sore for two days!! But, I have learned to stretch them every day.
My elliptical doesn't bother my shins...maybe it was the ones you were trying. I think with anything that effects your shins, you have to stretch alot and do a little at a time in order to build them up to where they don't bother you when doing that exercise.
Love my elliptical!!!!! If my ankle or knee is sore from kicking the bag, I can get my cardio on it!!!

I have not worn our old treadmill out. It would be nice to get an updated one soon.

My treadmill was actually my Father in Law's before he passed back in '03. In fact he had just finished a workout on it when he had a heart attack :(

WOW! Very sad! :frown:
Was he not in shape? Or, had other heart issues??
It is always good to see your doctor before starting back exercising!!
Get a stress test.
Have had our Pacemaster for 10 years??? Has been fantastic!!
Was in the top 5 on consumer reports.
The Sole E35 Elliptical was the first elliptical to show up in the top 5 that was affordable, and is why I got it. It has been great. Have used it about every other day for two years and no issues....knock knock.
Was surprised to see NEITHER listed on CR now.

He had had heart issues before and running was part of his daily cardio workout regiment. He was 58. I had been dating my wife for 9 months when he passed, was tough breaking the news to her after her mother called me.

58!!!!! OMG, that is my age. :tisk:

SVT, I think they bother my shins because I'm so short. I have to do such a long stride on an eliptical that it hurts.

I'm digging this NordicTrac so far. Very quiet and smooth operation. We got the one that will do 15% incline. I tried that this morning and I'm so short I got to where I coudn't reach the handles. I'm going to have to work up to that for sure. I don't want to go flying off that thing. The one we had before was a Pro Form. It was very good. I would LOVE to know how many miles we put on that thing. It had just gotten so noisy and jerky operating. It was funny, the very last day we had it, it really started doing screwy things. Good timing.

We got both our treadmills from Sears. It is funny....I don't buy a single other thing from Sears. They have great prices. I think we paid like $700ish for it, but paid $125 for delivery, set up and removal of the old one. Well worth it since it is upstairs.

Years ago, I twisted my ankle pretty bad.
Could not run on the treadmill, but could finally walk....and then walk faster....then, I upped the incline for a better work out.
Had to go to the DR about pain in my hip.....evidentally angered my hip flexor muslce/ tendons...always something!!!
Anyway, just make sure you vary your incline, don't just set it on 15 % and leave it. I was putting it up high to keep my HR up.

I need to figure out how to set me a workout on it. I'm just doing manual right now, but when I get used to the new machine, I want to make me up a litle workout program. I also do a stepper, recumbant bike and free weights.

SVT, have you ever been to a chiropractor?

I always wear a heart rate monitor....Pulse with a chest strap.
3 to 4 times per week I do cardio intervals....get my HR to 140's then push it to 170's or 180's for a couple minutes then let it come back to 149....then, back up again for 30 to 40 minutes. Easy to do on the heavy bag and Elliptical. On the Elliptical, I'm always on manual cause my HR dictates my incline and resistance.
Then, a couple more times per week, I do a normal cardio and get HR to 125 to 140's range for 30 to 100 minutes depending on what I have going on.

Funny story about the Chiropractor...I've only been to ONE back in the late 70's.
Was taking my Dad (bad back) to see his chiropractor and was waiting in the car.....somebody motioned to come in.
Had strained my neck playing football, so the DR laid me down and cracked my neck. Scared the mess out of me!!!
Not sure it did any good. My dad thought it was funny. My dad and the DR had been in the Coast Guard together and were buddies.
They served on the same coast guard cutter Ingham which is now in Charlston musem ....
The DR passed away in the early 80's I think.
Flash forward to 1987....Dad tells the DR's daughter that she should go out with me.
She thinks that's funny cause she had only met my younger brother and knew he was way too young.
Long story short, we talked on the phone seveal times (1.5 hours away), went out on Labor Day weekend 1987, married Labor Day weekend 1988.
I was fortunate to have met her dad.....and the only chiropractor that I've ever been to.

Wow....now that is a cool story.

I started going about 3 years ago. I go once a month for a good cracking. I will never NOT go to a chiropractor again. Best Dr. I ever had. When I first got my Z and my knee started bothering me...he fixed that too. Pop, crack, owie and then it is ok.

Can you believe that he fixed my hiatal hernia?? Food used to get stuck in my throat and I would have awful heartburn. (Now I know you aren't going to believe this) I showed him a video on YouTube where a guy was showing you how to correct a HH. Dr. Jeff did it to me. Hurt like a MERF!!!! I dry coughed all the way home. Have been fine ever since.

A good chiropractor is the best Dr. in the world.
