It's been a while since I've been to this site. I think some of you may still remember me. I see quite a few names floating around now. Are the old timers still here? Many of you remember me switching from my Q45 after the deadly tornado in Alabama to a Lexus GS300. I did love my Q45, but I'm glad that I went with the "bubble eye" Lexus. It’s a timeless design and the model that I was in love with since it dropped in 1998. I see quite a few 97-98 Q45's here in Houston and the body style is very dated. The 99-01 Touring models are still holding their own with the headlights and the 17" rims...wood wheel. I do miss my Q45 because I was on a mission to get to 300k on original transmission and motor. Car was totaled at 257k miles and still running strong.

I will say that the parts for the Q45 are hand over heals better quality over the Lexus GS300. This model is plague with suspension problems (lbj's snapping with driving at low mileage) and door lock actuators becoming non functional...but once you replace those items, the GS is a dream to drive. I just wanted to stop by and say hello and that I"m still doing well. I moved from Bama to Houston for a new engineering position in the O&G industry.

FYI...if anyone is looking for a new fuel pump module that will work for the 97-01 Q45, I have one that I"m willing to let go for cheap. I will try to drop by from time to time to share the knowledge that I've learned from this site. Did Q45Tech come back? Is he still healthy/alive?

I see that the site erased my signature. Maybe my photo was too large, but the mods didn't have to erase the informative stumble/jerking thread concerning my Q45...sheesh.

good to see you back, oldtimer! I am getting real close { 294K } to my original goal of hitting 300K on the original engine/transmission.....so far so good, and neither has ever had any internal work needed yet!

Thanks qship. It's good to come back and log on. Looks like there isn't much traffic here anymore. Club Lexus is very active, especially in the 2gen GS model forum. I really hate that I didn't make my goal of 300k. I was changing the transmission fluid every 15k with Dex VI fluid trying to push it as far as I could. At the rate I'm driving my lexus now, I will never get to 300k lol. Since moving here in May, I've only put 6.4k miles on the car, 800 of that was the actual drive from Bama to TX. I live near my job so that is great. At the time of the tornando, I could tell the transmission was on it's last leg. The transmission didn't shift well if you attempted to do a cold start and drive...but if you let the transmission fluid warm up for about 5 minutes, then all was well. I do miss that car.
