Hey I have a 1990 240 and am was planning to go SR but there are suppostedly complecations with the swap so recently I have decided to purchase a CA18det front clip and was wondering if it was a direct drop in the SOHC 240 or if it has the same power steering line probs that the SR does during the swap. And was also wondering if it has the same size turbo as the SR and the stock boost P.s.i.

Thanks, Nick

The swaps will be exactly the same, with the exception that the sr has different radiator inlet/outlet locations. As far as turbos, the sr turbo is slightly better and i believe they both have the same stock boost but i could be wrong on that one.

If you want SR, then go SR...don't let something simple like PS lines change your mind, especially since you'd have to do the same thing with either engine.

On a '90 you will have to relocate the PS resevoir and hoses unless you had a 91+,the DOHC motors already have the lines on the driver side. You can either get 91+ PS lines or play with the lines and move them carefully to be used on the drivers side.

Both are t25s with different specs, blacktop sr20s used the t28 I believe.

S13 SR's (red and black) used the same turbo,T25's. They compressor is noticibaly bigger, exhaust side is the same.

The T28's are even more bigger and use a TO4B compressor housing.

The only difference between the swaps is that the SR has the radiator outlet on the wrong side. Not hard to fix really. If you've got a SOHC KA, then you'll have to relocate the P/S regardless.

Does the KA radiator have better placement for the inlet/outlet, or is it more or less a toss up?

KA radiator is the same as the CA18 radiator! One less thing you have to replace, although if you plan on beating your motor, an upgraded radiator is a good idea as the KA one is quite thin:)

OTOH You can use any upgrade radiators for the KA rather than them fancy priced SR ones :D

ehh I dunno about that, most places have special deals on the SR radiators actually... I've found cheaper SR Koyo's than I can find KA/CA ones:(

Well SOME S14s came with dual core. Just gotta get lucky finding one. It fits BUT the S13 top mounting brackets wont work on it. Make sure you have the S14 brackets and drill new screws thru them to bolt them up. The hood prop wont click into its spot after this but its no biggie.

I'll get pics of mine soon.
