I have to say that I think the Versa is a step in the right direction for Economy cars. BUT I think a few improvements would make it Ideal. What does everyone think would make it better (within reason). I'll start by saying....BETTER BRAKES!

For me interior and exterior are excellent but still need some work on the power train - CVT feels confused sometimes, ABS is low quality and noisy, and i said excellent interior but need telescopic controls for the steering wheel.

So far the only thing I would prefer is the cupholders be a bit closer. Brakes are fine in my opinion. The CVT is very smooth in my Versa.

backlights for all options on dash and window/door controls. I always think it's strange that the 'lock door' button is backlit but the 'unlock doors' is not.

Ah yes, another one.

Either turn off daytime illumination on the dash or make the headlights switch off with the ignition.

One more inch of hip room would be nice. Not having to reach quite so far for the cupholders. But then, we'd have a Sentra. Kinda wish the Sentra was out in July instead of the Versa, i'd be driving one of those.

They seriously need to work on tuning, esp the CVT profiles. 26mpg in mostly highway driving is disgraceful imo. There ought to be a selector on the dash with two positions: economy/performance. Totally doable.

I do still like the car.

anyone else want a light up front? Cause I do!

I heart my Versa - and it's my first new car ever - and i'd buy it again (but in a different color). But I'd really like a light. I ain't tiny - and block a lot of the light that comes from the interior light behind me. It's like a fricken eclipse every time i try to read a map or look for something in my purse at night

Oh - still looking for a hubcap donation if anyone's interested.... (see post a few weeks ago titled 'rest in peace .... or pieces')

The map lights are in the SL.

My breaks are fine too, better then the ABS in my '02 Dodge Neon

I'm getting much more than that. I have the CVT and get 30 mpg COMBINED, about half city, half highway. It would be even higher if I just drove the highway.

What, like the one on my 13 year old Maxima's 4 speed auto?

(Actually, it has three positions: Comfort, normal, and Power)

Yeah, like that. Only this one has a lot more potential coupled with a CVT.

1. Power outlet needs to be about 1/16" LESS in diameter - I've blown 3 of those damn little bitty, hard to get out of the fuse box, PIA, 15 amp fuses. The slightest movement of my phone charger plug will blow a fuse.

2. Move the center arm rest toward the front some or somehow make it adjustable - those of us that are shorter and have to move the seat up don't get full use of it.

3. Another one that thinks the center cup holders could be moved closer, although I don't know how.... especially in a 6MT (which is what I have)

4. TEMP IN REAR VIEW MIRROR - My Titan had temp/direction in the rv mirror.... I think I've worn a hole in the V's mirror looking for it !

5. Get the accessories here that are available in Japan and Australia for the Tiida (and evidently Canada for the V)

Except for the fuse blowing (and Mom doesn't seem to have this issue in her CVT), my stuff is just cosmetic....... I LOVE my car !

Other than needing to silence a very loud shifting 6spd.and the lack of ABS availability on the SL (initially). I think this car really needs illuminated stereo/bluetooth controls.

My list:1) 6MT needs serious help, it's clunky and notchy, plus Nissan says I can't switch to synth fluid without killing my warranty. 2) On the 6MT, top gear needs to be about 10-15% taller. I can do without the extra power in that gear, but the horrible (26-28MPG) mileage is killing my love for this car.3) Fully Illuminated dash, as EV said.

That's about it.Otherwise, this car rocks!

I miss cruise control, but not enough to buy a SL. We talked to my wife's cousin about his experience with the CVT in the Murano before opting on a S. He gets rotten MPG on it in the Chicago area.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned a hybrid version. Granted, that's a big change, but given the non-stellar mileage most of us have been getting, I think a hybrid Versa would do quite well.

I would add a low windshield washer fluid light on the dash and a bock heater as standard on all Versa's

Hey, I'm a woman and would gladly trade the mirror for visor extenders for the side windows!

I was kind of hoping that they would have all wheel disk brakes (come on nissan, is it that much more? even the fit has it..)

i am a big one too for the options from over seas that dont even get carried over here...

I also agree with the "mode" selector.

I do wish it had all-wheel disc brakes too.

EV, the lights actually turn themselves off after 5 minutes of the engine being off, although it would be nice if they just turned off right away.
