Brent here, and I'm having so more issues...it's like it never stops for me. I won't ever have the 240 done, especially in time to make a 500 mile trip to go see my cousin's graduation, which is in like two weeks. Guys I need some help bad.

Recently I rebuilt an S14 ka24de for my 91 hatch. The crank was messed up bad in it, and a buddy of mine said I could take the SOHC crank (Dunno why my car even had one in there...) and use it. Well success, it did bolt up just fine and everything matched up, or so I thought.....now my harmonic balancer doesn't remain flush with the crankshaft. You can keep hammering it in there until it reaches the end and closes under the crankshaft seal, and you'll have like two inches of the shaft sticking out where the balancer is SUPPOSE to be flush with it, so Nico I ask you this, what do I do now? I cannont provide a picture and I'm very sorry, wish I could. It's gotten to the point to where I'm about ready to just give up, and that's something I don't truely want to do, but it's like the car will never get finished because something new pops up. I know someone will say "You need an S14 wiring harness" I know, and I'm still looking but I cannot seem to find one...but anyway, Nico family, please help.

i bet its becuase the oil pump on a SOHC is external. and the oil pump in a DOHC is internal. So Nissan probably made the timing chain cover bigger at the bottom for the DOHC, to make room for the oil pump inside. and probably made the end of the crank longer....

So do you think a SOHC harmonic balancer would work, or am I just wasting more time?

it might not though.. im thinking the timing chain cover sticks out more. making the end of the crank sit further in...

Well, came across another problem. Someone stole all my SOHC s***. xD I guess I'll be hunting for stuff tomorrow. Also another question, will an S13 DOHC distributor work for an S14 DOHC? Probably, probably not?

I am not saying your wrong or anything omega(so dont get mad im not trying to start anything) iirc dont he have to have the s14 distibutor since he has a s14 harness i thought s13 has external coil and s14 is internal hince why the s14 dont have the fifth nipple on the cap.

Just trying to help.

Well for some reason my old account got deleted...but whatever time for an update anyway. Lonismos, that's what we think, I don't think it will work due to the external coil, but it's okay. Someone was nice enough to give me an S14 distributor for free so that's knocked out. Still wondering on the issue about the harmonic balancer though. We don't know what to do in that case.

Lol, I disagree with the laws here in SC, back in Louisiana we rode whatever we wanted around town. xD Of course hardly any of them have heard of 240's. I called a junk yard to see if they had an ecu/wiring harness and harmonic balancer and they were like "Never heard of that kind of car before, is it new?" I swear to God I laughed so hard.

I know, barely older than I am. But in Louisiana most people drive trucks (At least in my hometown seeing as there were always floodings and hurricanes and other natural s***.) so no one really branched out to the import scene.

Lol true that. South Carolina is crawlin' with them. I've met a bunch of 240 owners. All in the Greenville-Spartanburg area so they're all close by to me. South Carolina also has it's Hondaholics too. :squint:

Lmao, what a newb and a half. And we got a Silforty runnin' around here. He called his a Sileighty too but he got tired of arguing with this guy at the meets because his wasn't right hand drive so he doesn't call it that anymore. xD

Like i said i live in albany everything is good on the motor but cylinders 1 and 3 are low i believe ringlands are gone. If you come i will rent a engine hoist and you can take engine and transmission for free. like i said im about to just drive down a dirt road and dump it somewhere but you can have it i will even pay for the hoist.

Damn, i didn't report back quick enough. You will need to get an S13 harness in order for the S13 distributor to work. Unless you hack up the wires etc.
