After "The Roach" got taken away for DUI (he was under 21), I saw it parked in front of the junk yard on Tank Farm Road, so I grabbed the key to give to him as a souvenir.
I've found more than 100 miles total (maybe even 200 or more) of winding roads around here, both paved and gravel. There's the one road I know Brent showed you that goes from just above Morro Bay to Templeton. That road also connects to another cool road that runs parallel to highway 1 up to Cambria. That road connects to a road that goes to Paso Robles. Theres another road around there that goes towards Nacimiento Lake, and if you keep going, you end up on highway 1 again all the way up by Big Sur. Highway 1 is really tight and windy up there. I could keep going. I haven't even mentioned the Pozo area yet. Hours and hours of driving around here, we're lucky.
I can only push so hard though, my GTI has 165,000+ miles (odometer doesn't work anymore) on stock suspension. Needless to say it can get pretty sloppy sometimes, especially with thier notorious tendency for them to lift the inside rear wheel on fast tight turns and their top heaviness. Those things are a guaranteed roll. If I had the money the first thing I would do is suspension, brakes, and a roll cage. Plus, I'm still learning the finer points of real driving. I feel much more comfortble on paved roads though.
Brent was just a natural. He had that "I don't give a fu(k" skateboarder mentality. If he ever got a decently built car and some formal training, I think he could be a very good racecar driver.
