Im new to the forum and looking for a Z32tt in the ohio area. love these cars and the fun they cause. if any of you know or have seen any for sale lemme know please cuz digging thru the ads on here is a mess. some questions how do the high mileage cars do? i found one im thinkin of a 90 with 148k miles. is that high? what should i look for?

The front fascia is the OEM '99 J-spec with the license mount shaved and the side skirts are Kaminari.

See if you can get some pictures of it for us to look over, also see what you can find out about the maintence history on the vehicle (when it had its 60K maintences, etc) and make sure you run a carfax on it. 5K for a TT is very cheap though, make sure it doesn't need a ton of work.

Also, you're not too far from Cleveland, you should stop up some time, I'd be more than happy to teach you some Z stuff and maybe take you for a spin. Plus if you get a Z, I've got tons of spare parts laying around.

my wife is the restrictor of fun parts but i already have a custom exhaust heading my way now im lookin at intake, ecu and bov( gotta have the bov )

Are you talking about the TT that's at North Coast Nissan? If so my buddy went and checked it out and test drove it and its gonna need a timing belt here really soon because its due. Also the Bose system is a mess, the rear shocks are in need of attention and it will need some brake work.

yup thats the one....its gonna need a lot of tlc....some dents and blemishes and a rust spot is startin....but five grand.....and i cant stop smiling...so sweet... the wife is not happy because the car has become "the other woman"

Its stuff that can be done yourself. Some more involved than others but you should be able to pull it off. When did or do you pick it up by the way?

i picked it up yesterday and had to drive it back and make a weekend class otherwise i would have looked you up. ok i have a shop availble to me to work on it. on the long quiet drive home( radio doesnt work like you said) i did notice the suspension and brakes needed work. those arent as serious as the timing belt. so i prob shouldnt go racing if the belt is on its last leg huh? should i do the pulleys the same time i change out the timing belt? or am i way off? can i pick up the belt at any autozone or do i have to go dealership?

As for your timing belt, use factory nissan parts. And with the mileage on the vehicle, do the belt, the tensioner, the seals, and the water pump. I might be forgetting some stuff but I'll get together a list of the timing belt "kit" kinda stuff to do for you.

i just looked at the online repair manual from this site. it looks intense how long should it take so i can tell the wife ill be working overtime or somethin so she wont know( "nag nag nag this car is going to nickle and dime us" blah)

You'll be fine to drive it around. The timing belt job takes awhile, first time doing it you're probably looking at a weekend project.

Yes we do have a front license plate law in ohio, if the car doesn't have the plate bracket, one can be sourced from someone parting a car out or from your local dealer. They are affordable.

As for Oil....I run Mobil 1 Synthetic and love it.

$100 for the intake is fair, what type is it?

thanks for letting me pick your brain...aparently the parking brake is out too...so a full brake redo will be this week...yay...ill prob hit up nopionline.com for slotted rotors and new pads...what do i need for the parkin break though?

i find myself lookin for excuses to go drive it....so fun i should have done this awhile ago

Odds are that the parking brake is simply in need of adjustment, I've yet to see a Z32 with worn out parking brakes. The parking brake assembly is a drum set up inside of the rear rotors. It is very simple to adjust, just adjust the wheel cylinder like the old style drum brakes.

As for the brakes and other parts you are needing, I would recommend that you get familiar with the Z specific vendors out there, you will have more to choose from and typically better pricing and service. Look into the sponsors of this site first, you may also want to check out:

For the air intake, I would suggest looking into the JWT Pop Charger that can be found on any of the sites listed above. It is proven to be one of the best designs, works well and is cleanable.

The parts for the timing belt job can be purchased in kit form from a couple of the vendors listed above as well. Based on mileage, you would be best to buy the 120K kit which also provides replacements for the idler pulleys.

wow thank you...i found a thread on here about tightening by parking brake so ill try that. and nsr32z said he was makin up a list for me when i do the timing belt....

No, those are just replacement drive pulleys. This is what all you will need to do it properly.

You can get the 60K kit cheaper but if your car has over 100K on it, it would be a really good idea to replace the idler pulleys that are included in the 120K kit.

ok got ya thanks....so i looked at pop chargers then thought to my self why not just put on the cone filter i have left over from a dif car of mine so i take off the cover and go to remove the old filter box thinkin ill just hook it right up but there is electrical wiring to a sensor on the metal piece of the filter box....

so should i get underdrive pulley aswell?

i would post pix of my car but i dont know how.
