I mentioned before that I had placed a bit of mouse pad in the rear window striker to stop the rear window rattle when temps got under 20. However, I still got a rattle when I closed the back hatch or drove or really bumpy roads. The other day I noticed that the hinge pin for one of the window hinges had worked its way out. I pressed the pin back in, removed the bit of mouse pad and viola, 'tis fixed. I can close the rear door and bang on the window and it is quiet as can be!
Unfortunately, I do not have the tools to countersink the pin like the other hinge. You cannot hammer on it because you run the risk of breaking the aluminum hinge. None of my wood working clamps have the oomph I need to press the pin in fully. I was starting to scratch the hinge and the vehicle despite several layers of duct tape so I quit while I was ahead. To do it properly, I think I would need to fully remove the hinge from the vehicle. I have it flush right now and I will see if it stays. If it works its way out again, I'll fix it right. Someone else had tried it in the past, so I have a feeling it will be addressed again. For now, it is at least all the way through the hinge and partially seated in the other side of the hinge.
Here are the pics of the pin before I worked on it. You might check yours and see if you have the same condition going on.
