I have a friend that will sell me his rb20 with 30k miles for 1800 that will include everything minus the turbo and intercooler. we would install it in his garage so im simply asking would you do it? the motor has also been sitting for a couple months idk if that would change your decision. thanks for any input

First thing is....this engine is coming close to 20 years old, how many cars have you seen that old with only 30,000 miles. not saying it isnt possible just very unlikely. Im also not calling your friend a liar because he was prolly told the same thing when he bought it. unless it has the original cluster with it then ill think about believing it. that is the first thing to get out of your head.
second thing...comes with everything? is that everything to swap it in? stock motor mounts dont do the trick. neither does stock driveshaft.
third thing...No turbo or intercooler? you cant drive the car until you atleast get a turbo and piping, intercooler advised.
fourth thing and most pertinent...in all my searching over the last 20 mins I have found many "30k" mile rb20det that come with everthing you are getting plus with a turbo and in some instances the stock intercooler for anywhere of $1100-$1650.

Keep looking and if I where you id find a new friend.

Haha thanks i appreciate it.
i kinda believe him about the mileage but everything else was kinda shady. i talked to him about it at first he said he has everything and then i went to his house later to day to check it all out and he tells me he doesnt have the turbo hes going to use it for his integra and he doesnt have the intercooler he spent to much money on it he doesnt want to include it but he will include the piping and everything. the only reason why i thought it was a good deal is because i coulde get it installed for cheap(i live in a apt complex so i cant do anything here)
but yeah ima just keep on looking thanks

never believe mileage...believe leakdown or compression tests...Dont lay excuses on yourself about the apt situation J/K..Ive built half my car and engine in my barracks room or now apt living/dining room hahahaha. just given you hard time though... definetly keep looking because as it would stand now you wouldnt have had enough parts to get the car out of his garage. maybe he will still let you use his garage when you get yours.

yeah well just spend this time familiarizing yourself with the swap so that way when the weather is better you should be able to just hop on in and do the whole thing without any troubles.
