Hey everyone, this is my first time actually introducing myself. My name is Simon and I'm a hardcore Nissan enthusiast. I've been on the forum for years, but I never really posted. I figured I get to know you guys and actually contribute to the forums. My current car is a 2003 Nissan 350z Performance version. I have a Carbon-Creations body kit (car is very carbon fibery hehe), an injen intake, a apexi exhaust, and other little things that are quite useless. Recently, I had the crazy urge to want to sell my 350z and buy a 90-92 240sx and build it from the bottom up. I realize doing this is going to force me to buy a beater and is going to cost me a lot of money (I want a CLEAN S13.5 wangan/drift car with at least 350whp), but that urge of building a car from the bottom up is in me and I'm losing sleep over it...if you were in my shoes would you sell the 350z or would you keep it and scrap all the little money you could find and work on the 350z little by little? I'll post pics of the car whenever I get a chance.

Thats a tuff one.... personal i wouldn't sell the Z just wait until its paid off, or save the money for the 240.... But if you really want to do this, go for it. Its really up to you, and by the sound of it you almost have your mind made up. If you know what your doing, then do it. Talk to the 240sx guys about it, see what all you have to do to the car, and how much (at most) it would cost to do what you want to do. I know drift is expensive because a lot of things get broken when you are sideways spinning tires! Its a pretty expensive hobby.

You could always keep the Z and dominate autoX.....

I paid the Z off already, it is mine. Here are some pics: And there are videos on my webspace: eden.rutgers.edu/~nomisst

The point of the car is to dominate AutoX, but a heavily tuned 240sx can take a lightly tuned 350z. Now I'm a college student, but I'm working full time (taking a semester off from school) and working at Johnson & Johnson as a quality engineer (so I'm making pretty good $$$), the issue isn't money. It is what is worth more, if I sell the Z I can get about $15,000 for it on top of the money I'm making now. That is enough to build a clean and powerful 240sx with a beater. If I keep the Z I only have the money that I make right now to tune it which will barely get me a turbo or anything else and plus the price of the car is going to depreciate as long as I'm putting mileage on it. I love the Z and I love driving it, but I feel nothing when I press on the gas pedal (my 03 Sentra Spec V felt like it pulled harder). I want more power and for the Z that costs a lot of $$$$$ which I don't have. I mean a turbo kit for a Z is enough to buy a 240sx with a sr20det motor. I would buy both, but I don't want to work on the 240sx with only a few thousand dollars cause in the end I really will be broke once I start school again (I won't be working anymore). So it is really an issue of one or the other. So there begins the thought process. I think I made my mind anyway, I'm probably going to stick with the Z and just get a diff and a 3.9 final drive gear (I heard the car feels a lot better after putting those in, the car bucks so early in first gear). I mean my brother already has a 240sx. I'll just wait till he makes more money and help him build his KA-T.

if you didn't buy all that carbon fiber stuff you could have had a turbo

Seems like you just got used to the power of your Z. I would rather have a Z than a 240, but that's me. Why don't you build your Z in to a drfit car...it's been done.

Your car needs wheels! Some nice Volks would really setoff your carbon fiber.

well while the z is more expensive on just everythin... u would loose the pimp factor of the z until u got the 240 up and goin good.... but going back to college and knowing what u make id make a decision that would b less harsh on my wallet... im in college and i just bought my z and besides a lil body work itll prolly stay stock tell i can get alot of bucks to mess with it.... but if u do get a 240 stick with the KA like ur brother and put a turbo in it... so much more power and can handle a lil more power stock than a sr20..... but i like the carbon fiber if im not mistaken nismo??? i was thinkin bout that for mine too... nice whip

Volks would also look effin BA on this... i miss my old set (i got jaked bad on em 1400 bucks for volk gt7 with nitto nt555 with like 200 miles on em....)

Well. Sounds like you might be getting bored of your Z.

Depending on your finanical status and what you currently own on your Z it should decide what to do.

I have a **** ton of cars... basically all I ever spend my money on.

If I were you id keep the Z as is and just start an S13 build.

You can get an S13 shell for like 300 bucks. Get all the stuff you need and start building away. Its really easy to sink alota money into these cars cause theres so much out there and you will just wanna do more and more.

Oh, and I like your Z accept for the CF. For some reason I cant stand that ****.

The car came with all the carbon fiber! I still have all the OEM parts as well. This car was a ridiculous deal. I spent almost the same amount of money buying this car as my brother did on his 98 240sx. The car is used and I owned it for about 4 months now. I'm going to get Work Emotion XC-8's if I can find them for a decent price, if not I'll get the Work Emotion CR's. I am thinking about building a drift/autox car anyway now. Just where am I going to get more power? I only want to spend like $3000.00

Man I feel like I keep saying this over and over, I didn't do anything to the car. I bought it used this way. I got a SUPER deal, I mean like blow your freakin' mind sort of deal on this car. I can make like $4000.00 in profit if I sell this thing, but I bought it at such a beautiful price (I feel like I would be an idiot selling it after getting it for the price I got it for).

Why dont you keep your z as a beater, then buy youself a 240 shell, and start collecting parts. i mean come on this is nico i sure you can find use parts from other members. seriously building a 240 from the ground up isnt really that expensive. dont sell you z, you'll regret it later.

You're absolutely right. I was driving my car around today and I'm actually starting to really enjoy driving it. I owned for only like 4 months. I'm just getting to know this car. I'm going to disable the VDC on Saturday and see how that feels, but the car is really growing on me.

As far as $3000 goes, ever think of looking into building your heads... When i do mine its going to cost at most $2500 in parts and at most $500 to have them built and mounted and tuned...... potentially some serious HP. heads are where its all hidden, you just have to find it!!!!

I don't know...that will require my car to be in the shop for a few days. I don't have a beater car right now...I was just thinking about easy bolt ons.

do you have anything as far as bolt ons, or is the car just stock motor?..... If it is we got work to do with $3000, but heads will get you more HP's than the bolt ons ever will...... Spend $500 on a beater, then save up another $500 and get your heads done!..... then when they are done sell the beater you just bought and cleaned up, for $1000.... anything that drives is worth $1000 to someone....

I would personally keep the Z. I have both an SR 240 coupe and a 03 350z. I like the the Z a lot more. Like other people have said you could always turn the Z into a druft car and 350Whp wouldn't be hard to get out of a Z. It would take a lot of money for the 240. The decision is totally up to you.

You know what you can do if you want a 240sx. you can trade me, built motor(arias piston (.020over), eagle rod, etc...) t25 with ecu tune.

I dont think will ever sell my 240 after all the work thats done to it.
