hey guys new to the Nissan scene but not new to the turbo scene.

my car list

04 sti-BOLT ONS
03 Evo 8-Bolt ons
03 Evo 8- fully built 2.0 GT35r

so im trying to go into the rwd drive, im not really looking to pick up a 240sx for drift purposes i kind of want it to be a highway car.

i have seen a few around for sale with the sr20 motor with red top or black top. and my question is my goal for power wise would be a nice 450-460 whp. can the sr20 motor either red top or black top or full sr20 handle that type of power without building the motor? also can the transmission handle that much power on a stock transmission with just a clutch upgrade.

like i said im coming into the world of nissan and rwd from awd and evos that can handle over 400whp on stock motor.

Depends on the condition of the particular motor, but most stock engines 4 to 8 stress points yield about 100hp per cylinder. Red tops are as old as 22 years old. So to more than double the RWHP for the factor should require some work to play it safe (oil pump, timing set, ARP rods bolts and other hardware).

Sure guy have done it, but at the same affect there are a lot more who stick to 250-350 RWHP.

so would it be easier to do a ka-t and build it or possibly if i can get my hands on one a black top and just push it to where it can with obvious necessary mods without building motor. im looking for a 45o-460 whp

well my budget would be to buy a 240sx that has one of those swaps in it already possibly try to get one with a black top- and then from there i would work my way to a decent size top mount turbo
