Hey guys haven't been on here for awhile. i wasn't able to access my old account. anyway yesterday i took out my engine. I'm doing a basic rebuild. the crankshaft is in perfect condition. the pistons look good. and the cylinder walls have no scores and have no lip at the top. while the engine is out I'm converting to a 89 240sx SOHC cyl. head, intake mani. ecu and wiring harness. also i am buying a turbo kit online for about 700. comes with turbo header, t3/t4 turbo, BOV, down pipe, and wastegate. i will put pics up of the engine and stuff when i can find my camera.

I am maintaining life at the moment, that is most important. The old truck is getting me by, but there won't be any 350whp, turbo D21 street-sleeper with my current budget--that is the only reason I don't have a build thread (and one of the baddest trucks) in this forum. And if it were one of the baddest trucks in this forum, that would make it one of the baddest D21's anywhere.

i disagree. the baddest d21 is in a wreaking yard with a blown motor. a car is a car man. the only reason im able to do this financially is from my tax return. and the good luck of having a buddy with a 240 selling me parts. (which is impossible where i live) getting your hands on a ka24 here is harder than getting a sr20. but yeah.

Will you be going with forged pistons/rods? The other stock pieces in the KA are pretty stout as far as I know. My bet is that a KA rebuilt with all stock parts (except for forged pistons and rods) is a perfectly capable platform for boost.

Also, I read a little bit about moly rings, and people were saying to make sure to have the correct finish in the cylinder bores as not all piston rings require the same grit hone.

rods and crankshaft are forged from factory. pistions give out at ~400hp. the block is getting honed by a professional.

Get forged pistons, otherwise you will be rebuilding again. The rings are not the weak point it's the ring lands that go bye-bye. I've built two KA-ET engines and both on relatively low boost (8 and 12 on a t3 super 60) have broken the ring lands. Yes, the were both tuned, one by me and one by a professional.
