The M35x will be a very VERY different car from the two you currently own. Have you test driven one yet? The M's are generally very reliable cars with very few issues. The "x" may have slightly more issues than the standard RWD. Buy low milage and invest in an Infiniti Elite warranty. Good luck!
Just make sure that you do all four wheels with the same wheels and use the exact same tire on all of them too!odie wrote:Putting stock 19's on a the M35x shouldn't be any different than the M35 or M45 RWD
so what if it detects wheel slip above 45mph? the starting would be best with awd in the snow, but i also would like to know what it does at higher speeds if slip is detected, i read the post about the front end noises, but it looks like they may be doing something about it from reading the post about the problem. are their any other problems with the front end other than he noise on tight turns?NightWatch wrote:I'm surprised the only M35x owner to respond so far has been ANTZRUS and he didn't mention anything about issues/performance/handling. Can some other M35x owners chime in?
I only rented a 2008 M35x for two weeks while I was on business in FL last summer. To me it seemed somewhat sluggish. I did notice some improvement in traction on wet roads during turns, but I can't say what it would be like on snow. I would be careful about setting my AWD expectations too high for this vehicle. While it does have added traction benefits due to its AWD it certainly does not even approach 4WD SUV or even Subaru X-Drive status. The AWD is almost totally computer controlled with the exception of the "Snow" switch that locks it at a 50/50 torque split at speeds under 15 MPH. If I remember correctly at speeds in excess of 45MPH it is 100% RWD. Most of the advantage would be starting out from a stop on snow or slow turns on snow.
Please also take a look at the posts on here for AWD front end noise when turning issues.
I had a choice of 4 2008 M35's when I bought mine in January. One was an AWD. I chose the sport because I thought it handled better than the AWD. But then again, I live in Atlanta, not Milwaukee
yea i think its what im gonna get, anyone on here have the premier package?antzrus wrote:The reason I didn't mention any handling problems, is because there are none? I guess it depends upon what machine you are comparing it to. No machine I've ever owned ('57 Chev Bellaire, TR3, MGB, Datsun 2000, '67 Mustang 289, Saab 99E [comes close], Buick Electra, '71 240Z, '80 VW Diesel Rabbit, VW Diesel Vanagon, VW 4x4 Gas Vanagon, x2 Chev 4x4 Suburbans, 91 Buick Regal) has driven as competently as this one.
It did have severe tramlining issues, but that was completely remedied w/the ContiExtremeContacts.
And yes I do notice @ about 1-5mph on very tight right turns some kinda' rubber like rubbing sound. So what? It is no big rub and its rare I ever drive more than a few feet w/the wheel turned so sharply right.
None of the above is a reason to buy or not this machine.
Either you love the gestalt of the machine, or not; period.
I have the premium package. No one ever really sits in the back seats, but I just used it on a road trip and they were very roomy. I was able to watch movies the whole way and it was all extremely comfortable.xsbc63x wrote:

Yeah, rare the back seats are used by people (our kids are adults-I think...)-just stuff. But it is damn comfortable w/heated and reclining seats along w/all your home DVDs when your wife is doing the driving on long trips.ajagor92 wrote:
