I've got an agreement over the phone for an 07 Versa hatchback sl with cvt. It has 62180 miles for 8k. Clean title. It's blue and the pictures look clean. The car is about an hour away so I'm gonna go get it tomarrow. Assuming everything is on the up and up do you guys think that's a good deal? I've only been looking for a couple of weeks after I test drove one.

Anything I should look for or know about a cvt with that many miles on it?

I'm pretty excited to own a car again. I have an 05 jeep wrangler unlimited rubicon that I finally paid off a while back. Pretty much anything has a smoother ride than my jeep and 12 mpg is getting rough with 50 dollar fillups every week. I'll be glad to use it for it's intended purpose - recreation.

Hope that means it's a good price...

There actually is little used inventory out there from what I can see. I've looked at Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston. a good 20 million peoples worth and there were maybe 110 versa's for sale in the last month private party. I've seen prices of 6500-8000 for salvage vehicles which seems high to me. This was listed at 9250 and I was a little surprised she took my 8k offer.

$8k is a good price.

Things I'd ask the owner about:
1. maintenance records (if she has any)
2. any repairs, TSBs done at the dealership

Otherwise it should be a good car to drive every day.

Hey Bobsyouruncle, did you ever get the 2007 Versa? My Versa is an 07 and has been a pretty decent car. As another mentioned, try to get some idea of the service history. If you can't determine when the transmission fluid was last changed and the coolant flushed, you should consider doing that after getting it. Make sure the correct Nissan CVT transmission fluid is used. The air filter and cabin filter are super easy to replace. Check the brakes and change the oil, then drive it for many years. I have no idea on the value of used cars these days, can't help you there. Plenty of resources out there to check typical used car prices.

Yes I just got back with it tonight! I got 36 mpg from Dallas to Austin. The person I bought it from's dad works at a nissan dealership it was really well maintained and immaculate on the inside. I'll do a proper intro post with some pictures on Friday when I get some time. That's a good tip about the transmission fluid. I'll probably have the dealer do it this weekend. Coming back I'm really glad I took a three hour drive to get an SL. I don't think I would have been happy with the basic trim.

Congratulations on your "new to you" car!!! That is awesome mileage. You can thank the SL CVT transmission for that. My S model with the four speed auto can barely make it to 30 on the highway.

Finding a well maintained used car is not always easy, and is the smartest way to buy a car. Enjoy the Versa and the forum. :dblthumb:
