Well I am trying a new luxury car division out. I like it and love its little creature comforts.

Cant wait to get this car looking mint again. Rides nices and get this when it is in drive and you hit it a little it will peel out and then chirp the tires from 2-3. Car feels solid.

Pito,Looks like you got a pretty good car; especially being in BROOKLYN. As great of a source of info and support as Q45.org has been to you, http://www.acura-legend.com will serve in the same capacity. Its sad to see you switched sides on us, but you got a great car! Do you have the Type I or Type II engine in it? -Evan (East Coast)...Felicidades Pito

I've always wanted a Legend, nice cars and the do have a soul.

Maybe one day, I can find a 6spd Type-II that someone wants to get rid of cheap ... dare to dream.

I wouldn't mind a Legend, either. Kinda sharp cars.

Watch out for head gaskets! I talked to a new (used) Q owner a few weeks ago who had to let his Legend go because of it.

Enjoy the ride.

I have been on acura-legend.com as a guest for quite some time now I have officially joined. HG issued checked out Jesda. NO smoke no overheating. A light blue smoke I did notice after all the flushing and new oil but that is due to the valve cover seals.

The car itself runs excellent. I have the LS trim. That means heated seats and auto climate control. I love the coupe windows that go down in the back. Very sporty and luxury at the same time.

The coupe that I have is a type I. The type II coupe didnt debut until 93. Then standard in 94's. But still alot of kick in it. Dont let the power rating fool you.

A second choice to the G50 Q45 for more than a few on this board.

Look out for leaking valve guides at >90K, according to my Acura technician.

I'd LOVE a black on black Type II 6-speed coupe.

Phenomenal car that never really was appreciated by the proletariat.

My partner just gave away his 1991 Legend. He had almost 290K on it. That car was nice. It drove very well for a FWD car. The engine smoked a bit, but Tim was more into adding oil, than changing it. He went through about 6 or 7 CV joints. The leather was quite poor, so he had the seats recovered in vinyl. It was the same color as your new ride. Lots of room, unlike the current Acuras.

Enjoy!

I can see going through CV joints because of how the power is put down through the FWD. The car feels good.

On another a friend of mine has (due to me) a 91 Q with 18" rims. Looks pretty nice.

Enjoy the new car. What you gonna do about the leather? Seat covers? Otherwise, looks pretty good. I always liked that gen. of Legend.

I work at Acura as a tech, and let me tell ya C32 engine and the C35 engines that where in the Legend and 96-04 RLs where excelent engines. Things to watch out for are- injectors, radiators, and head gaskets. If your speedo isn't reading right then you will need a speedo sensor rebuild kit- its like 50 bux and will bring your optimistic or non working speedo bad to life. Watch out for bad CV joints- if they are leaking (not torn) then fix them or you will need to repleace em down the road. Don't let the ABS modulator get low on fluid or it will go bad and its bout 1400 bux for a new one (accumulator and pump). Watch them power steering rack boots for any cracks or you will be putting a new 900 dollar PS rack into it. As far as harsh shifts from the transmission- your trans mount is shot. You can bend the exhaust shield out of the way- right on top of the cat, and you will be able to see the rear trans mount. Its on the very end of the transmission and you will need to pry up on the mount to see if its cracked. Check over the ball joints and tie rods. Upper ball joints can only be bought WITH the controll arm. Use only 93 octane gasoline as the engine will run on retarded ignition timing giving you verrry sad performance. I have a 91 Legend I bought for 600 dollars, its a STANDARD model, with cloth seats, no sunroof. I got it with 122K miles, and my woman drives it daily. I brought the car back to OEM specs, rebuild the engine from ground up (blown head gaskets) threw in new radiator, all new hoses, fixed up the suspension and brakes and the car runs like new. If ya need any Legend info, let me know I am the only person in my shop who loves working on Legends. Those cars are like tanks, and they where THE best Acura ever made. Anything past 98 is just garbage save for the 3.5RL which was discontinued in 04.

side shot- famous "Honda" rust spot right by the bumper to quarter panel wheel well edge, not a really big deal- pretty much rust free for a 91 Honda product.

Yes the transmission sits behind the engine, and has a prop shaft that sends power to the differential that is mounted on the side of the oil pan (passenger side), the drivers side axle runs through the oil pan and into the diff. It has very little to NO torque steer and also gives the car a better weight transfer front to rear. Everything is enclosed and all you see is the axle going into the oil pan. Remarkably these engines last a VERY long time if maintained right and don't get overheated. You can only overheat it once- MAYBE and the head gaskets MIGHT last. The gasket is made out of composite material that is prone to failure. Metal and copper head gaskets do not work on this engine, as it was found by people on the Legend forums. They tend to leak or not seat right on the block causing more headache than just using the crappy OEM gaskets. All in all, the job is just as time consuming as doing head gaskets on a Q45- not that I have done one, YET. I hope I don't have to on my overheated, 94 Q that is now sitting at my friends house with a blown radiator.
