KA-TSR20DETRB26DETT

You won't get much power if you go naturally aspirated.

I personally like the KA-T.

What's your budget?

$10k is pretty high for an sr20.

There are a lot of options to make more power in the 'vert.

- KA24 turbo or s/c- SR20- RB20/25/26- VH45- LS1etc..

Use the forum search function and figure out what you want. There are tons of ideas out there.

ya no the quote i got was 10 k for it to be done rite, but i have been reading the threads the sr 20 det only tops out at 120 hp 140 to the crank out of the box, i am sorta wanting a engine to just come out of the box an a** kicker. i don't want to turbo this car at all not that i have anything against it i just want to keep it nice and streamline. no turbos or anything i just need alot more ponys under the hood any ideas ? oh and to make it a little easyier with as little fabing as possible

You need to go back to square one and do a ton more homework.

sr20det is a turbo motor.. 220hp

If you want a ton more hp you need more displacement. Look into a VQ35 or VH45 or LS1 or some other small block.

None of these will be easy.

If you go to the nico club home page there is an article that pops up of one guys engine swap. It sounds far from that ricer sound. It sounds more like a nascar. I forget what the engine was out of but it was well documented. It looks like a lot of work and he fabricated a bunch of parts to do it. If your wanting a quick swap for quick power you want to go sr20. You'll end up with turbo's but they are a close fit considering it's just the engine that came from the japanese version of the 240sx. Just because you have a turbo doesn't mean you have to get that whoosh sound some blow off valves make if that's what your worried about. You can put ls1 in them if you want american muscle but it's a pretty labor intensive swap as well. The local shop here does sr20 swaps including the price for engine and transmission and piping intercooler etc for like 5000 and another 500 if you want to keep your a/c. I would suggest going on youtube and listening to some videos of 240sx with sr20's etc. A lot of your sound is going to come from the type of exhaust you put on the car. I'm not a big fan of the giant fart pipe sound. Anyhow that's my 2 pennies GL in your search and whatever option you decide to take with your vert.

here is the link off the home page if you read it through it has videos attached etc. zerothread/287581

Here is a video of my convertible and my engine.

details are in the video, but here you go:

I have an RB25DET (2.5 litre single turbo charged motor from the Nissan Skyline R33). I have not had it tuned but I am estimating probably ~250 wheel horse power. It is fairly quick, and sounds good.

sounds like its time to find your self a LS1 from Chevy.

People have put v8s in s-chassis before, and sounds like where you want to be. Something like 350hp out of the box, N/A and def doesn't sound like "jap crap"
