I got a lower mileage ka24e engine for my 240. has 86k mileage. last week after the install it ran fine but took some time to start, while starting the idle was at 200rpm and as i watchted it it started to move up higher and i'm guessing it caught it self and it started to set it self to idle at 900rpm and then it stayed there on it's own even when i rev it dropped back to 900rpm no problem. Took my car out for a drive and it was running great no poblems.
But next day and for the past 3 days now I can not get to my car to start up right, idle right and run right now. Now as i start it takes at least 3 or 4 cranks and then it starts and idles really low and it's almost doing the same thing as it did the time when i first took the car out for drive but this time the past 3 days its a lot worst becasue now the car won't do anything
it'll start somewhat and run for like 2 seconds at a really ****ty 200rpm idle and it'll stall, if i keep my foot in the gas it'll somewhat try to keep running but eventully it stalls.
I have adjusted the idle air control valve screw and it seemed like it was trying to get better each time i kept adjusting it but then after a while it start getting worse again and doing nothing so I said screw that and went got new spark plugs since i needed new plugs anyways.
got new plugs... didn't fix the problem.. so i ubolt the idle air control valve and looked at it. It was dirty as hell so i was like okay this is my problem its all ****ing ditry, I cleaned it really good with carb cleaner, re-installed the idle air control vavle.... Went to start up my car and the idle shot up to 2,500rpm and i just sat there to watch to see if it'll catch it selfs and idle at idle at 900 well it didn't. Rpm's went down really really fast and it died.
okay so i tried again 2d start try after cleaing the IACV it did the same.... So i did it for the 3d try and it did the same thing! 4th try the car got worse idle again at like 200rpm for like 1 second and stalled.
Im really sorry about this post and long post, but I really need the help because you guys rule!
Also would like to add I don't think it matters but some people have told me it does matter and some have told me it doesn't matter, well I have no air intake temp sensor hooked.. I never did even when I drive the car aroudn the block and when it did run good, so if i get the air intake temp sensor would this fix my problems, or what else would need to be done about this?
