Well my freind bought a rb20 and he doesnt know to much about them. I have a ca18 so I pretty familiar with the motor. But anyway the motor turns over but wont start. The fuel pump is sending fuel but as soon as it gets to the fuel rail the injectors wont do anything, took the spark plugs out and the pistons are dry. I say this because we tried starting it so much that ateast the pistons would have been wet on top. Also we took off the fuel return line and it was also dry, so Im thinking that the fuel is just building pressure up in the line and not going anywere. All the coilpacks are getting spark so If someone could help me out on how to get the fuel to the spark it would be nice. Any help is appreciated thanks

Sounds like your injectors might not be getting power?

Check out this thread... seems like a similar issue perhaps.. Maybe it will help. Good luck!

anyone know where the injector power wire is (grey wire).

Still doesnt make sence though, even if the injectors are fireing the gas would come out the fuel return wouldnt it ? When I take the return off its dry. So its almost like the fuel is jsut sitting in the line and wont go in the fuel rail ?

took the words outta my mouth. the pressure regulator is holding the pressure since it can't flow backwards.

Trace down the grey wire for the injector power. If you do not have power to it, the thing will not start. I'd verify that you have power to that wire first off.

Another question, do you hear the fuel pump priming when the key is turned to ON? If not, check the wiring and fuel pump related items.

It's a good sign that you got it turning over though. Good luck guys

grey wire is only on the rb25, the 20 has power to the injectors individually from the ecu.

First Id try to switch your fuel lines (again), if that doesnt work, replace your fuel filter. If that doesnt work, mark your CAS and remove it, and with the key ON spin the gear inside by hand. You should hear your injectors clicking if the CAS is good.

The dry return fuel line has me thinking its definately switched fuel lines. I know you tried it once, but if its getting fuel to the rail, it will turn over (as long as everything else is as you described.

well guys ive tried everything that I was told and still no luck. I switch the fuel lines and NOTHING. I took the cas out with the key in the ON position and turned the cas with it plugged in and the injectors made no "clicking" sound. I also noticed that the lights on the ecu are not on while in the ON position. I didnt do any of the wiring, and I feel bad to just leave him hanging. But like I stated before I really dont know what else to do ? Still no fuel in the return, no fuel on top of pistons. Any other suggestions would be helpful.

thanks

Ok, you have checked the return line, but have you looked at the feed line? Is fuel coming out when you switch the key on with the ECM plugged in? If not, the ECM isn't switching on the fuel relay, or even the ECM itself is not turning on to do anything to begin with.

check the green relays by the ECU, should be two of them about a foot up on the main harness. Sounds like the ECU relay is bad, and its not firing the injectors.

yea we put 2 of the big green relays in. Ill check for a bad ground tommorow. But does it make sence though that, why its not goin through the rail and out the return line. Im just really confused about that. If it was the injectors not firing thats one thing but its not even coming out the return. But ill mess around with it tommorow, and give a update. Thanks everyone for responding so quick tonight.

thanks

pull the damn fuel filter off and watch the gas pour out into a container when in the on position. After that. Use a noid light to check for the pulse signal from the ecu to light up the injector harness. After that check to see if both plugs the ecu signal and 12vdc connectors are plugged in and powering up the injectors.

Nuff said. Need more help email me at [email protected]

Pretty sure we can get it turned over!
