hey audtatious, I have a question re: 84-87 maxima headlights, can ya help?

is there a lighting upgrade made for these? is the bucket on these plastic?how would it handle a more powerful bulb, would it melt?

They use a 9004 bulb, so you can get some aftermarket bulbs. Not sure the watt range, but if you went higher it may need a wire upgrade to support the additional current draw.

Other option is to get a HID kit and graft it in....

Glass/Plastic? I don't know...
