I'm sure one of our resident oil gurus will pop in soon enough, but I was under the impression that synthetic oils allowed longer fill intervals than conventional oils.

Either way, I personally wouldn't worry about the 22 miles if your car is otherwise fine.

Actually, from what I've heard, oil will self-destruct after a set amount of time, like Mission:Impossible style. It's somewhere around 18 miles above the "recommended change interval." Be afraid, be very afraid. :rolleyes

Come on, now. Give the guy a break. We've all been overly paranoid about are cars at one time or another, right?

BTW, my oil change interval in my Ford Tempo was about 10-15K *miles*. I just couldn't kill that pitiful little engine no matter how hard I tried. ****er just wouldn't die.

how about you just change it before you go. It's not like it takes more than 5 minutes anyhow.

A little over wont hurt. This is especially true for synthetic oils.Just dont go crazy with your change intervals.

(Also dont autoX, unless u have at least a bit thicker oil fill, xw-40)

Fred..:)

PS:Dont use Fram filters.

do a search for blackstone labs and read up. you can take a sample of your oil and send it to them.they analyze it and give you their change interval recomendation based on your specific engine. they can also tell you a number of things about the oil that can help catch problems before you know about them.and it costs all of about 20$

Not very nice of you to take advantage of NICO's language filter.

Edit: Did you ever stop to think it's there for a reason? Did you ever consider that you're a guest here like the rest of us, not entitled to be here?

Some of us who don't work at BK like to read these forums at work during lunch breaks. Besides, it's just damn rude.

Edit: Hey, NICO has an ignore feature!

I work in a local shop here in GA and this old lady comes in with at 92 Honda Civic and she said that she needed her oil changed. Well we asked her how long it had ben and she said like 30,000 miles. We were all in dis-believe till we tried to change it and hardly anything came out but a chocolate pudding substance dripping from the oil pan. So we decided to take off the valve cover to see what kind of damage she had created. Well when we took it off it looked as though there was another valve cover under it due to the fact that the chocolate pudding subtance (aka Very old Oil) had collected at the top of the Valve cover and took form to it. Trust me this was hilarious. So finaly after we cleaned it all out as best we could and filled the motor back with fluids and such and tried to crank it. It died, no longer could it take fresh oil. lol. Poor old lady. Now she has to buy a new car...

hahahahahaha. that **** is soo funny. but i guess thats what you get when you dont take care of your car. ive seen an old mustang like that. it was a 1970 or something like that. and the lady had never changed her oil. but she only drove it to the store and to the unemployment office to collect her government checks.
