Car: 97 maxima se

Post

New here and to owning a nissan. I'm a mechanic by trade so I've pulled my fair share of wrenches on them but it's my first. I bought a 97 maxima se 3.0L v6 for my 3 hour round trip commute for work. So far after almost a week I love the car but it don't quite meet what I expected for fuel mileage. Hopefully a tune up will help that. So far it looks like it's getting around 22 mpg mostly interstate driving. Looking forward to reading through post here and learning what others have changed to personalize there cars and maybe finding some new ideas.

Welcome you! I'm also new here. I own a Nissan Note 2017 370Z and I join this forum to know other Nissan owners and know more about driving and maintenance tips.

Welcome aboard both of you! Hopefully you enjoy both your cars and the membership of NICOclub.

One resource that we offer is the factory service manual, simply referred to as the FSM. I view it as a Chilton or Haynes manual made by the car manufacturer. It's free to download and could be a good resource both for DIY repairs as well as for a curious mind looking to understand his/her car.
I have a link to it in my signature below:

That's probably about correct as far as fuel economy goes. That car has the VG30DE in it that went into the 300ZX. Bit of a thirsty engine but a wonderful driving experience. That's probably the best Maxima Nissan ever made.
