Nico now has an official powder coating specialist. (powder, ceramic, and more).

I send all of my coating work to this shop, and the work is awesome, and the prices are even better.

Check them out in the market place zerothread?id=452704

I would ask him, hes been doing it more then 20 years. I would think it depends on the wheel material its self.

But he sponsors Reese Martin, and does all his wheels on his drift car. Non stop abuse and tire changes and those wheels still look awesome.

Yes its safe.

Aluminum melts at 1200F, I don't think a 400 degree oven would ever mess them up.

Thank you for the heads up, I was just thinking about powder coating my wheels. But heard that it was not safe to powder coat wheels.

I have Works XD-9's....would they be safe to powder coat?

He flaked out and kept some people's parts and money, then did a s***ty job when he finally finished some of the work. There is a thread about it named "Where the hell is the chosen one?" or something along those lines.

What else do you think they are? Steel, if so you have no issues at all.

Sit down cos I'm about to drop some engineering on your a**. Here are a bunch of phase diagrams for Al alloys:

At 204 degrees celcius (400 F), you are no where near any phase change for ANY of the alloys. Some don't even represent it on the chart.

If you are really worried, send the guy an email and ask him.

Yeah considering hes been coating 20+ years, and has done 100's of sets of wheels.

That and it may be a shock to some, but wheels are coated almost all the time. Even factory OE wheels are coated and cleared and finished in an oven.
