93 KA - whenever I push the engine, and I don't mean driving at a high speed. But I mean accelerating hard through the gears, my car starts to hesitate, sputter, jerk forward and lose power, very seizure-ish activity. And in some cases it will even die as the RPM's drop to 0.

I'm unsure what it is, but it's a very big annoyance when I want to make passes on the highway quickly to have my car sputter and die out moments later. Any help or ideas?

--> I know that is going to sound weird but check the battery terminals b/c sometimes when you accelerate, the car jerks back and forth, and it becomes loose, and when you try to start your car there is a bad connection that will unable you from starting the car properly!

Check your grounds, TPS, and spark plug wires. I'm willing to bet it's one of those.

EDIT: I'm not sure how safe it is to drive without your TPS, I know I've done it without problem but been told it's not a good idea, but I would try that and see how the car reacts. Now of course you won't be able to rev beyond a certain point (3k rpm), but it would run better if you floor it up until that RPM cut point if it was the TPS. ALSO, does it do this before or after it warms up? Is it worse before? Or after? Same?

to run without a tps is asking for trouble. you'll stall out pretty bad pretty often.

Well I think I've solved it, I changed the plugs and wires, and took it for a pretty spirited run on the highway. No bogs, no hesitation, car even feels peppier accelerating out of bends.

Thanks guys.

I went through about 8 mechanics and 2 years trying to fix a similiar problem on my first 240. In the end, I took it to someone who knew a good amount in imports. He changed the plug wires and it ran perfect. Moral of the story, never take your import car to a domestic mechanic. Anyway, looks like you had the same problem with the plug wires! Luckily it didn't take you long to figure it out :-)
