My 1989 240SX has recently develop a slight "hesitation" when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear and from 2nd to third. The hesitation comes in at the low rev range (2K) and sort of feels like a "flat spot" in the engine curve. I'm thinking that it may be the fuel pump but would appreciate any help available.

Tim

The car is a 5 speed with 310KM.

It may be that your clutch is slipping, or the hydraulics are wearing out and taking awhile to engage. Fuel pump problems are usually denoted at high load and high RPM. Check your MAFS, TPS, and your ECU for codes. Information on how to do all of this is available using the SEARCH function.
