hi just a question, trying to stab out from when entering the freeway or to beat someone at a light, i get no pick up. i took off the throttle body and cleaned the choke plate and the inside of the intake manifold ( as much as possible) purchased some electric parts cleaner and sprayed the maf ( as per a prior posting) used seaform to make sure the injectors were not plugged, still doing the same thing, loses power on bridges and when i try to press down on the gas on the freeway. i have 218000 miles on the veh and have not had any major problems, there is a humming coming from the fuel pump but i bought it used and its always done that, but its not responding like it did when i first got it. when i first purchased it i could step down on it and it would go sideways. any help would be greatly appreciated

almost every engine problem will trigger the check engine light on obd 2 96q,except the knock sensors. is your light on? even if it isnt on,have codes read to rule out knock sensors-

Sounds like how my FPCU behaved just before death.

no lights have come on. this started about 3 weeks ago after trying to see how low the gage would go before i ran out of gas, spark plugs have been changed but im sure its time to change them again, also when i took the thottle body off the clean the choke plate there was a large piece of what looked like carbon stuck inside a hole which is right inside the intake manifold, it was stuck and after spraying the heck out it with cleaner it came out but its still heistating and then nailing me to the seat as i press down on the pedal

Should never use Seafoam, especially in the tank!

Humming fuel pumps are never good. Read the posts.

If your fuel pump is humming, you better change it before it fries the FPCU, or else you'll be spending more money. I don't know if it will solve your problem, but you better do it.

You describe fuel starvation. Change fuel filter. Disconnect fuel line at injector header line, check fuel flow volume. Check delivery pressure to rule out faulty fuel pressure regulator. I have found most medium mileage Q45's have badly clogged intake valves. It will take some months of running 'clean-up' or Tier I quality gasoline +Techron and BG-44 to remove those intake valve deposits. They really restrict the airflow and cause lots of hesitation symptoms. However, long duration 'sags' are symptomatic of fuel starvation.

LOL! Max I love your replies!

You know after thinking about it - Most people who are driving the G-50's today don't know what it's like when they are running great. It's a shame too, because it's a real joy to go out and "feel the rush" now and then. It recharges my batteries, so to speak.

It sounds like a fuel pressure issue.

Running the car below a 1/4 tank can cause fuel pump failure, expecially in these extremely hot months.

I would never buy a used fuel pump, if I could afford it. I understand budgeting, and prioritizing money.

Buy a new fuel pump and fuel filter from Joe.

Clean the fuel tank and blow out the lines.

Have the fuel rails cleaned and flushed, and a power balance done on the injectors.
