That's the best I can describe in my tittle. Anyway just for the record my car has been well maintained not sure why this is happening, and the last thing done on my car from the dealer was a new steering rack and wheel bearing.

So what's happening is while driving at low speeds say around 38-39 MPH I can feel the car shake hesitate bounce type of feeling and I can see the shifter surge back and forth not much but it's noticeable this seems to only happen when my foot is on the gas at a steady speed I don't feel this at say 40 -75 and it doesn't do it all the time although I was able to reproduce it a lot yesterday.

The transmission is shifting smooth no banging or slipping that I can tell the transmission fluid was changed at the dealer less then 10K miles and front and rear diff was done also both right and left axles were replaced about 3 years ago.
the car has 73K and I don't even drive it in the winter. Well anyway I don't have any warranty so any Idea where should look first?

I wish that was it I had the recall done about two weeks ago I just hope it's not the transmission. Does anyone know if the new steering rack or wheel bearing the dealer installed could have done I didn't notice till after this was done

by chance have you checked for any DTC's (trouble codes)?? You can go to the dealer, auto parts store, etc to get the car diagnosed... I bought my own handheld which comes in handy for diagnosing and erasing codes (once issues are fixed).

it may just be one of the sensors that tend to go bad.... camshaft position sensor(2) and/or the crankshaft sensor....

get it diagnosed sooner than later. good luck and let us know what you find.

I assume you mean like this:

OP:
You may want to review that thread. Also, for the record, I haven't seen anything like this in my 2006 M45 after the recall work.

That's one of the reasons I haven't done my recall yet and don't know if I should do it. :frown:

Thanks guys for your input but I don't think this is related to the recall. But should I get an after market warranty just incase it's something like my transmission going bad or motor? while this issue isn't that bad and its random I don't want to get stuck with this bill or should I have the dealer check it first? Also does anyone of any good extended warranty's that are not to expensive
Thanks

It's your car begging you to drive it faster!

On a more serious note I have experienced similar but not so noticeable as you mentioned where the shifter shakes. It usually goes away after I perform a transmission fluid replacement. I know you mentioned you've performed this. How long ago? transmission should have a fluid exchange performed every 40k miles.

Ok my transmission was serviced at 15K 32K and 60K according to the dealer records. Also I'm going to check the fluid tonight after work should it be running in neutral or in park? and does it need o be hot?
Thanks

Just checked my transmission fluid and it's full and ruby red smells fresh so maybe it's not that like I said it's not slipping or banging into gear at all not shifting or down shifting but it's only felt at
low cruising speed with me applying very little gas and random any Idea?

Did you have this issue before the work? If not, why do you think it's not because of the recall fix if in fact your car is well maintained?

I have noticed something similar, although I haven't noticed the shifter surge back and forth. It is at the same speeds you mention and only on flat ground while having the accelerator pressed just enough to maintain speed. It is very slight and only at a a very narrow speed variance.

Yup that's it, and yes only at low speeds and random I took my car out yesterday and it was fine no SES light so I'm not sure what to do there is another thread going with a member who has the exact same issue as me he thinks it my be bad coil pack and he's replacing all six I'm waiting for him to follow up

i have that same issue it's a quick stutter around 40 sometimes and 80. it happens more when the roads are wet for me it as not happen for a month for me now but i really would like to know what causes that hope it's not a early sign of transmission issues. also i've read that maybe if i change the transmission fluid and the rear diff fluid it should stop 09 m35x

I had a very similar issue on my 06 M35. Probably around that same speed and under light acceleration. I never had it checked out because I figured i'd never be able to replicate it for service. I've never had anything like it on my 12 M37.
