Ok I just got a 95 auto, was suppose to get a fastback s13, but lucked out with a s14:) Anyway from my driving, I notice when I have the car at wot, there is a slight hesitation. I know most auto cars do this, but out of all the autos I've driven mine seems a second longer. Like my parents 99 chev malibu, the hesitation seems like 1 sec exact. Mine seems like 2&1/4 or 2&1/2 seconds long. Thats by me counting like "1 one thousand, 2 one thousand". I really thought that when I put it to the floor it would get up and go that instant, but instead it seems to stay at the given speed for a couple of secs and then take off. Now no problems like this occur when I'm just casual driving, but when I got it to the floor thats when I get it.

Also again this is my first time with a auto 240, or a 240 period, but is it normal for the car to reach 5k or close to before it shifts? Parents v6 malibu seems to shift sooner, but I keep in mind I have a 4cyl. Also should my KA seem torquey even though its an auto, cause I'm not feeling it as much under wot ? I know oil change is due for me in roughly 3thou miles, but I might need a basic tune up, cause Im unsure about filters, wires, etc.

I'd really appreciate any help! Like I said, I just got the car and I wanna keep it around for as long as possible, so I wanna fix any issues now before they grow. So if you got any guess as to what the problem might be, I'll run it by my mecahnic!

i think you're worrying too much.

it'll always help to do a nice tune-up (plugs, wires, filter, yatta yatta) and use PREMIUM fuel.

Yeah your probably right, I'll just take things one day at a time. Seems a lil shorter now, so thats good i guess. I tried my moms 626 at almost wot from like 15mph, and hers is weaker. So I don't feel so bad lol. Hers is 4cyl auto btw.

Hey just thought of this while driving my car home from work, but was it the 240 that from factory the ecu is set to retard timing under hard acceleration to keep traction? I know it was some car I was researching when I saw this, and I believe it was the auto 240s.

Only thing that beats me is I never tried got wot from a dead stop, so I dunno how I would break traction anyway. With that said, I guess there would be no need for the ecu to retard my timing.

Anyone heard this before?

don't quote me but my vote would be no. there's things like traction control which basically cut fuel but for an auto, the car is more likely to shift on you then anything else... my wheels seem to spin just fine.

i've only had my car for like a year tho so i'm not totally there yet

So your an auto owner too? By spin you mean you can get em to chirp/screech/etc. ? Sounds like a dumb question, but I just don't want you thinking I can't get the wheels to spin literally, like Im stuck or something lol. Yeah I've just been fooling with wot around lowspeeds, haven't tried anything from a stop. I'm kinda takin it easy on the transmission until I can get a flush and filter change. I plan on also gettin new wires, plugs, fuel filter and oil change. So I dunno if I can even brake traction, but theres always a chance to try it later down the road, but first I want the transmission serviced.

I got the car newyears eve, so I've been basically taken these past days and trying to figure out what i want to improve, change, or fix. So thats why I have these questions now, cause i really wanna get mods goin for late spring/summer.

yea, the sig says i have an auto :P and it really depends what kind of tires i have on (new or worn). mostly tho, traction will keep the car from spinning and i'll just take off. (if you live in a snowy area, i ABSOLUTELY recommend good tires.)

i'd really hate to admit it but i do so without hesitiation: the stock 240 is not a powerful car, hence all the swaps / builds. the car is decent don't get me wrong, but IMO doesnt have as much as it should. my friends are camaro/mustang owners so they have no problem eating me. of course, they also spent about $11K+ more to buy theirs then mine so....

Anyways, you sound semi-young (and I'm 23) so I'd just recommend that you keep up with your maintenance like you listed above and treat her nice until you have the money to begin a good project you can without-a-doubt afford.

19 to be exact. Yeah I mean maintenance stuff will get done regardless, but I will be gettin bolt-ons too. Money is sorta of an issue, but not the biggest. Feel kinda dumb though, cause I had overdrive off during the past days, and when I switched it on, the car felt better. Shifts more and a does so a lil sooner. I also feel a tad more power. Previous owner must not ever looked in the manual like I did, because from the day I test drove the car to the day it was actually in my ownership, was b/w 2 to 3 days. So Im certain for those number of days they never had od on, and the manual recommends having it on for normal driving.
